you can see, on NOTMAA pic. taken at Tobolsk, there is note:
NII with children. April 1918

But this is topic about Anastasia's height...so, was she shorter than his brother or no?

Saw the photo on your link.

It was taken in Tobolsk.

Alexei wrote on 7/20 March that he and the family went to chruch and that afternoon he piled wood in the shed.

Alexei wrote 16/24 March that he had a bad cough and there was a snow storm.

I doubt Alexi was climbing up on roofs after he  suffered from a cold and the roofs would have been far to icy and slippery.

Alexandera wrote to Ania Vyrubova on 30 March / 12 April from Tobolsk:

>>Sunbeam<< [Alexei], >>has been ill in bed for the past week.  I dont know whether coughing brought on an attack, or whether he picked up something heavy, but he had an awful internal haemorrage and suffered fearfuly <<   p. 610 A LIFELONG PASSION  Collected and notes by  Maylunas and Mironenko.

The hemorage had started on 29 April/11 March according to Pierre Gilliard

On 13/26 April 1918 Nich. II, ALexandra, Maria, Valia and Botkin left Tobolsk.

The photo could have taken no later than mid-March 1918.

Alexei  continued  growing in   March, April, May, June  to  16 July 1918.

I think everyone agrees that we don't know how much Alexei grew.   We can only assume he grew because he was at that stage in a young boy's life that boys grow.

Photo could have even been earlier than March.  They had been in Tobolsk since the 6th of August.

In Aug. ,  Sept. it was probably too warm for scarfs and jackets the group is wearing in the photo.

There is frost by 7 Oct.  A lot of snow on 11 Nov.

No snow in the foreground of this photo.  So, the photo could have been taken as early as Oct and before 11 Nov 1917.

From 11 Nov. 1917, Dec Jan., Feb., March, April, May, June to 16 July 1918 is seven, almost eight,  months.  Alexei could have grown one to five inches in this time frame.

Well of course we all know Alexei could have grown. Anything is possible. But did he? That's the real question. There's no point you all saying you own personal growth stories. That has nothing to do with Alexei. There's no proof he grew taller than Anastasia and in all photographs available he isn't at all. So where is your proof he was taller than her?

I don't believe there is any hint in the diaries and letters that indicate that Alexei has  stopped his growth and may end up being shorter than Anastasia.

If he had stopped growing,  I think this would have been a concern, however, his growth may explained why he had bumped into things in those last months before he became bed ridden.  When a child is growing he bumps into things or he reaches for a glass and end up hitting it so it spills.

Because Alexei was bed ridden, perhaps no one even noticed how tall he had gotten since he wasn't standing completely upright  up next to any of them.

This last Sat. while at a wedding, as our family was standing and waiting in line to leave the church,  I noticed that my grandson, who is 12 has had a spurt of growth.  He's grown 5 inches since Aug. and that's only five months.

So, yes,  a child can suddenly grow suddenly and quickly.

And, yes,   a child may not grow any more at all but that is not tipical for 12, 13 and 14 year olds.

Oh, and let me add,  a hemophilia attack  does not prevent a child from growing.

Your bringing forth the notion of Hemophilia acting as a stunt in adolescent growth is somewhat perfunctory, I'm sure we are aware that it would never develop in such a manner and is somewhat nonessential seeing as to the fact no one brought it up as an argument. Like myself and others have brought to the discussion, surely a growth spurt of extensive means would have been doted upon by the meticulous Alexandra Feodorovna in her diary. I honestly have no approximation why this whole thing continues, there's been so much talk and different evidence given forth that I honestly don't know why it continues to be prolonged here. Irregardless I suppose that's merely my abject opinion. Back on track here, though I know this idea may beleaguer you dear Holly, I'm quite positive it is safe to say that Alexei was almost certainly one, if not a few, inches taller than Anastasia. It is possible, though relatively unbased (given the fact we have no sound proof nor evidence to suffice it other than inconsequential personal tales of growth, that ultimately have nothing to do with NAOTMAA), that this is a fact and it really is too deficient to continue debating back and forth pictures and hunches when we do not have the materials to augment this far too drawn out question.

You have to agree that this is getting a little hopeless, if not pointless....
