I have to say I don't know anything about them, except that, that is absolutely beautiful and I wouldn't mind owning it. Or at least wearing it like once and getting my picture.

It has nice details, but is really so tall that it looks monstrous. Very Empire, isn't it?
Evidently it's Queen Therese's ruby and spinel diadem, a gift from her husband King Ludwig I.

"This tiara was originally part of the wedding present from Queen Isabella II of Spain to her daughter Infanta María de la Paz, Princess of Bourbon (b.1862-1946), who married Prince Ludwig Ferdinand of Bavaria (b.1859-1949), in 1883 at the Palacio Real, Madrid."

The parure his known within the family as the 'Queen Amalia Parure'."

                     I regret not being able to be more definitive source-wise, but some years ago, (I THINK it may well have been a several page photo article in the magazine "National Geographic" on royal gems, etc.) a statement therein remarked that some of the larger "rubies" (especially in the tiara and bracelet/s ?) had prominent surface scratches consistent with the composition of GLASS.  I have never taken the opportunity to follow up on this, however.    AP.

The lady on the left is Crown Princess Antonia of Bavaria. The lady with the baby is Crown Princess Cecile of Prussia with her eldest, Prince Wilhelm.

Minty--you did great for your first post.   Welcome and I hope to see and hear more from you. That center picture is one of the best I've seen of the Bavarian tiara--that thing is immense!
