i find the austrian kaiserhymne so beautifull!
but today i found out something stupid..
The old anthem of austria the kaiserhymne is the same as the today national german anthem..
the german stole the K.und.K. kaiserhymne of the old austria...
Why?

here listen:
the old austrian K.und.K. hymne:

The today german national anthem:

What is your opinion?

What is so stupid about it?  They share the same language, and when the German Empire was established,  they had a K&K as well. It is a lovely anthem, no matter who uses it.

It is also the melody used in many Protestant hymnals with the words, "Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken."  It is a fantastic piece of music, whatever the circumstances.    Along the same line, the Imperial Russian National Anthem can usually be found in Protestant hymnals with the title, "God, the All-terrible."   ("All-terrible" in this case meaning "Awe-inspiring." )      AP

Its just stupid cause it was wrote for austria..by an austrian componist...
so if it was austrian i think the german are thiefs that they got it now cause today they are no "kaiserreich" ;) lucky they got other lyrics on it...
but its just my opinion.. don't attack me about it... ;)

Well, Mozart was Austrian, and his music is univesal- not "stupid" is it ? No one is attacking you "Madame  Sisi".  just questioning your logic.

The Kaiser Hymne ( Gott erhalte Unsern Kaiser) was composed by Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) and the music is identical to that of the present National Anthem of the Federal Republic of Germany. The words of the anthem varied from Kaiser to Kaiser (i.e. they were changed slightly when a a new emperor ascended the throne). The first version was for Kaiser Franz I and the words were:

Gott erhalte Franz, den Kaiser,
Unsern guten Kaiser Franz!
Lange lebe Franz, der Kaiser,
In des Glückes hellstem Glanz!

There were different versions for Kaiser Ferdinand, Kaiser Franz Joseph and Kaiser Karl. The final version was for Archduke Otto, which I have pasted in below.

Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze
Unsern Kaiser, unser Land!
Mächtig durch des Glaubens Stütze
Führt er uns mit weiser Hand!
Laßt uns seiner Väter Krone
Schirmen wider jeden Feind:
Innig bleibt mit Habsburgs Throne
Österreichs Geschick vereint.

    In Verbannung, fern den Landen
    Weilst Du, Hoffnung Österreichs.
    Otto, treu in festen Banden
    Steh’n zu Dir wir felsengleich.
    Dir, mein Kaiser, sei beschieden
    Alter Ruhm und neues Glück!
    Bring den Völkern endlich Frieden,
    Kehr zur Heimat bald zurück

The words of the German National anthem (Das Deutschlandlied), are quite different. They were written by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben in 1841 and have served as the German National Anthem since 11/08/1922. There are actually three verses, but it is the third verse that is the National anthem today (since 1952). In previous eras the first verse was more popular. It is a good example of "recycling" ...the old Austrian Imperial anthem being changed into the German anthem. The third verse is as follows:

Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
für das deutsche Vaterland!
Danach lasst uns alle streben
brüderlich mit Herz und Hand!
Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit
sind des Glückes Unterpfand;
 Blüh im Glanze dieses Glückes,
 blühe, deutsches Vaterland.

honey im talking about this one not about god save the queen or another on who's iddentical...

its ok other lyrics you know but when i first noticed it that they had the same music.. thats stupid..i thought people (singers/artists)today couldnt make their own music cause they are always covering old songs..or use the music of the old song and put another lyric in it.. thats what i hate about it..like they ain't got brains to think/make their own songs..

Anyway lets close this subject i asked for opinions(your own thought about those anthems) not for other stuff like and this anthem and this and this or this or that or blablabla...

The Republic of Austria found no reason to retain the former Kaiser Hymne and has its own anthem called something like "Land of Mountains and rivers" with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and text by Paula von Preradović. However, the text of the former GDR (east German) national anthem by Johannes R. Becher was specially written to "fit" the Haydn music of the Deutschlandlied, but at the last minute the powers in East Berlin decided to set their anthem to new music composed by Hannes Eisler.

First I'm NOT YOUR HONEY....

second

of course the lyrics are changed...but the music is the same. and this is NOT stupis as you say... when you chose an austrian nick-name you should know that the imperial austrian anthem is by hadyn and know used in Germany..

and it's the same with "gstq/gstk" wich was the FIRST Anthem and later used in 80(!) (Prussia/Germany (Heil dir im Siegerkranz), Russia, Lichtenstein, Norway etc etc) countries - not only members of the british empire...here for example lichenstein...

third
I'm not a lawer but, I supose its possible to use medoldies - also for "pop" songs etc when there is no copyright - or noone bought the rights an this music, or the composer is death

WOW! I always thought that the whole purpose of such a Forum was to discuss things, thus I find your attitude rather surprising.

Well, my opinion is that it's not so stupid that Germany took this anthem, but it is sort of unfair that they used a song (anthem) that was written by an Austrian composer... you know, when we learnt about that at school, the kids from my class said it was SO unfair that Germany did it, and we had quite a conversation... we wasted our Music lesson discussing this LOL.

But you should know, that after WWI, the Allied Powers hated all "russian" things.. may this was the fact that the new government decided to take an austrian composer - and the history conection was also there in former holy roman empire...with Austria as leading power...until 1804
