It is interesting to note the maid of honour Chiffres designating the various Empresses the women served in some of the photographs.

the only source i know of is through Arturo at Eurohistory.  i believe the addy is:
books@eurohistory.com

i've no idea what the price may be, though.

btw, they're mostly fotos (w/ captions) & some introductory text for each chapter... but otherwise, they're all fotos.

These books are incredibly expensive.

I have had them on a watch list with a book seller in Scotland.

Just this past month he came up with volumes 1,3,4.

I think a lot of the pictures  that brnbg posted must come from volume 2.  The one that "got away".

You will probably all think I am insane, but the three volumes including shipping from France to Scotland to the US and including a "finders fee" for the book seller cost in excess of $800 USD.

It is my big book expense for the next ten years or so.

As I said before, these books:   Noblesse Russe: Portraits by Jacques Ferrand are incredibly expensive, but also a good investment.

I paid a total of $1700 USA for four volumes and they are now worth $3700 USD.  Not that I would ever sell them. I probably couldn't find a buyer at this time.  But I plan to keep them and who knows what might happen in the future?

Those of you who paid less are even luckier than I.
