I don't believe there is a thread about her so I'll start one. I've read so much about Olga and Anastasia but not much about Tatiana (apparantely not many people like her) but the least talked about is Maria (as I call her). I've read that she was of incredible beauty and health also that when she was little she was chubby and called "bow wow" it's hard to imagine Maria and her family's execution. Here's my favourite pic of her.  ;D

well the thing is that when the body's of the romanov's were found and two were missing they instantly believed that it was anastasia. So maria got pushed in to the back ground of her younger sister. But I must agree that she was my favorite sibling, and then anastasia. However it is said that Tatiana was favored by the emperess so that made her unpopular.

Actually, there was initially controversy over who's missing. The Russian scientists (who analyzed the remains first) believe Maria is missing, and have in fact buried the smallest set of remains under Anastasia's name. The American team believes Anastasia is actually missing.

Well, two bodies were missing, so couldn't it possibly be both?  Who do they believe the second missing body is?

Analysis of the 9 sets of remains in the Koptyaki grave has shown that there were 4 adult males (Nicholas, Botkin, Kharitonov, Trupp), 2 adult females (Alexandra, Demidova) and 3 young adult females (3 grand duchesses). None of the remains are consistent with the skeletal measurements or structure of an adolescent male. Therefore, Aleksei is certain to be missing.

ah thank you sarushka!
i thought he was missing for sure....

personally i don't think he could live through an incedent like that!
he was very frail and wouldnt not have made it out!

but that doesn't mean his body isn't missing!

Well, a missing body does not of course mean anyone survived - including Alexei.

By the way, the controversy continues to this day as to which sister is missing. When the first SEARCH team came to Ekaterinburg to look for the second grave, they were asked to sign contracts that said they were looking for Alexei and Marie. And so it remains - the Americans saying Anastasia is missing and the Russians Marie.
