OK,
I normally don't bother with these threads, they are rather puerile (quick, run grab your OED  ;D  )  First, personal attacks such as those on David P. are NOT permitted. I strongly suggest clockworkgirl and Ortino rethink their postings and apologise.  Second, I don't think David attacked anyone, it was rather "tongue in cheek" and perhaps a "bit" satirical, but it made ME laugh, and clearly was not intended as a personal statement about anyone in particular, well, except for Bear... ;)

So, I think you guys need to lighten up a bit yourselves.  Not everything you may disagree with is a personal attack, and sometimes, somebody is being funny just to be funny.

By the way ladies, thank you for supplying me with some birthday fun. I was born on 10th August! Following the Russian tradition, I now will present each of you with a very special gift:

Only valid for redemption if clipped along the dotted lines.
*****************************************************************************************************************

A gift certificate for Ortino and Clockworkgirl21 from their dear friend David

Entitling each of them to blanket forgiveness for three future insults or four future negative innuendos or one future personal written attack upon my person. (consult fine print on the back of this coupon for combinations, such as two future insults and one strong negative innuendo)

*****************************************************************************************************************

Do not tear, fold, bind, spindle, or mutilate coupon.

Why, thank you David! I never knew you were so generous. At least I now have your permission to reproach you when you mock, harass, and irritate other people. This makes me feel so much better inside. And in honor of your birthday, which was only three days ago, I'll say no more about your sarcastic remarks. I hope you had a wonderful day.  :)

Greetings Ortinio!

I shall look forward to your cleverly written reproaches but do be remember that we are playing in someone else's sandbox and if the Forum Administrator does not approve of our version of fun then we must respectfully cease our games.

Your dear friend,

Sung to the tune of 'Mysterious Ways' by U2

'It's all right, it's all right, all right...
HE JUST... THINKS HE'S ST. ALEXEI!!!!'

I just couldn't resist - and who wants to wait for an appropriate moment on the Tammet threads? 8)  Here's to more substantial discussions of that brave little fellow and the significance of his life in the coming year.

I think that discusion ruined this homenage to Alexei. This was to wish him a happy birthday and the half of it it about personal discusions. Thats not fair to Alexei.
So next time if you want to discuss use personal messagges and dont use a space to remember him for that please.

Dear Teen and Preteen girls,

I would like to thank all of my admirers for their best wishes on the occasion of the 102nd  anniversary of my birth. This is just what I have been needing to lift my spirt ever since I was shot repeatedly by the Bolsheviks, partially cremated and buried in an unmarked hole in the forest. Your anniversary wishes are the best thing to happen to me since I was made a Holy Martyr by the Russian Orthodox Church. Please keep looking for me as I do want to be buried with the relatives some day, it is unfortunate that I cannot give you any clues as to where I am since it was dark when they buried me (ask Bear she will tell you all about it).

Your always loving,

Aleksei Nikolaievich

His Imperial Highness the Heir Tsarevich of All the Russias

Clever David, a bit odd, however clever. :)  lol.

Happy late b-day to Saint Alexei Nikolayevich.

May I remind you that Aleksei is DEAD! Despite what you might believe he cannot read the touching praises that you have written on your website. From your point of view I seem to have ruined all the fun by injecting a bit of reality into the group psychosis.

It seems as if some the posters have not looked up the word "puerile" as FA had suggested

I shall take the comment of 'a bit odd' as a great compliment when written by Her Fearsome Majesty Mandie, the Gothic Empress.

If that comment was directed at me Robert, let me remind you that I learned that word in 7th grade French class as meaning childish.

Oh Alexie, I am so, so, SO SORRY I am late for your birthday, which was last Saturday. Could you ever forgive me? Anyway, happy belated birthday, sweet saint. You were a fighter, you were compassionate, you were loving, brave and a beautiful bright young boy with your whole life ahead of you. I'm sorry you never got the chance to show the world. It's definitely a poorer place without you.

Please forgive me for missing out on your birthday. Happy belated birthday Aloysha.

Peace always,

Tranisha N. Thomas

I am sorry if I offended anyone here with an earlier remark.  I revere the memory of St. Tsarevich Alexei with all my heart and on his birthday I privately read the Akathist that has been written to him.
