"Yes it's a long process before they can recognise that their problems are not with the local governor, but with Putin and his administration. It takes time. But you have to be there just to educate them. But either you do it here, or you emigrate, because you cannot live in your country seeing it being toppled by the incompetent, corrupt KGB administration and just do nothing."   Garry Kasparov

I know this is really late, but I wanted to add something. Whenever I sing this song, I think of Alexei:

If I had words to make a day for you,
I sing you a morning golden and new!
I would make this day last for all time,
Give you a night deep in moonshine!

It's actually the song from 'Babe', but it was originally a song by Westlife.

Dear Alex:

Thank you so very much for the translation!  It sure beats my poor attempt, done with a Russian dictionary before I started lessons.  Now I realize how much I missed!  God bless you!

It IS pretty sad. But, you know, if he had lived, and grown up, he might just seem like another person to young people...

Yes, and us not obsessing, wether he lived or not, would be like the world comming to an end. Especially for the "terrible twins" lol.

Yeah, I guess Alexei would have passed away by now anyway. You know how Rasputin said if Alexei lived past seventeen, he'd grow uot of the hemophilia? I know that may have just been a way to stay hired, but what do you guys think? Would he have grown out of it? Is that even possible?  ???

It is impossible to grow out of haemophilia, it is a life-long condition.

I thought so, but then why do you think he said that? Do you think it was just to kind of controll Alix?

Well, with God anything is possible, so there could have one day been a miracle, but, my gut-feeling is that he just said it to calm the Empress. I doubt very much that Rasputin would know much about haemophilia.

Lol, sometimes, I wonder if he knew too much about a lot of the stuff he said he did.  :-/ I read this book on him, and his life story seemed pretty messed up.
