We all need a little Sunshine in our lives, and you are ours. Happy happy birthday, sweet Alyosha. I can see you having a huge banquet with your family and new friends in the Kingdom of God, looking down on us all with a great big smile. Already I can hear your laughter and the cheers of your guests.

God bless you dear, but I know you've already been blessed. Shine your radiance upon us so that we may all aspire to be as good and kind and compassionate as you. We miss you but know that you are in the best place of all, the Kingdom of God.
Hatred – this is a disgusting feeling. Yes, there is sport gambling, there is a striving to win. But to hate someone – this is awful! I think, that first of all you have to learn to respect your rival. -- Evgeni Plushenko

I wanted to add this.

Someday
When we are wiser
When the world's older
When we have learned
I pray
Someday we may yet live
To live and let live
Someday
Life will be fairer
Need will be rarer
Greed will not pay
God speed
This bright millenium
On its way
Let it come
Someday

Someday
Our fight will be won then
We'll stand in the sun then
That bright afternoon
Till then
On days when the sun is gone
We'll hang on
And we'll wish upon the moon

There are some days dark and bitter
Seems we haven't got a prayer
But a prayer for something better
Is the one thing we all share

Someday
When we are wiser
When the world's older
When we have learned
I pray
Someday we may yet live
To live and let live
Someday
Life will be fairer
Need will be rarer
Greed wil not pay
God speed
This bright millenium
On its way
Let it come
We'll wish upon the moon
One day
Someday
Soon.

One day
Someday
Soon.

(Music: Alan Menken
Lyrics: Stephen Schwartz)

thanks :) Here are some more.

God on high, hear my prayer.
In my need you have always been there.
He is young, he's afraid.
Let him rest, Heaven blessed.
Bring him home.
Bring him home.
Bring him home.

He's like the son I might have known
if God had granted me a son.
The summers die, one by one.
How soon they fly on and on.
And I am old and will be gone...

Bring him peace, bring him joy.
He is young. He is only a boy.
You can take. You can give.
Let him be. Let him live.
If I die, let me die.
Let him live.
Bring him home.
Bring him home.
Bring him home.

(music: Alain Boubil
Lyrics: Claude-Michel Schoenberg)

Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
Night is falling
You’ve come to journey's end
Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
All souls pass

Hope fades
Into the world of night
Through shadows falling
Out of memory and time
Don't say: «We have come now to the end»
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again

And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the West

(music/lyrics: Howard Shore, Fran Walsh, Annie Lennox)

Dream by night - Wish by day
Love  begins this way.
Loving starts when open hearts touch, and stay.
Sleep for nowDreaming's how
Lover's lives are planned.
Future songs  and flying dreams,
Hand, in hand.
Love it seems made flying dreams
So hearts, could soar.
Heaven sent
These wings were meant to prove, once more.
That love is the key....
Love is the key.
You and I touch the sky the eagle and the dove.
Nightingales we keep our sails filled with love.
And love it seems made flying dreams,
To bring you home to me....
Love it seems made flying dreams
So hearts, could soar.
Heaven sent
These wings were meant to prove, once more.
That love is the key....
Love is the key.
You and I touch the sky the eagle and the dove.
Nightingales we keep our sails filled with love.
Ever strong our future song, to sing it must be free.
Ev'ry part is from the heart, and love is still the key.
And love it seems made flying dreams
To bring you home to me....

(music: Jerry Goldsmith
Lyrics: Paul William)

That song reminds me of Aleksey and really his whole blessed family.

(slightly off topic, God Rest Jerry Goldsmith, Oscar-winning composer, 1929-2004)

Let me fall
Let me climb
There's a moment when fear
And dreams must collide

Someone I am
Is waiting for courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me

So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear them

Let me fall
If I fall
Though the phoenix may
Or may not rise

I will dance so freely
Holding on to no one
You can hold me only
If you too will fall
Away from all these
Useless fears and chains

Someone I am
Is waiting for my courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me

So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear

Let me fall
If I fall
There's no reason
To miss this one chance
This perfect moment
Just let me fall

(sung by Josh Groban, from Cirque Du Soleil's Quidam, you probably recognize it from my signature.)

Happy Birthday to Alyosha, Russia's Brightest Sunbeam!  Your sparkling personality shone throughout your happiness and trials alike.  We remember and love you today and always.  May you rest in Peace in Our Lord's Kingdom of Heaven.

With much Love,
Dasha

Skyline Pigeon
By Sir Elton John

Turn me loose from your hands
Let me fly to distand lands
Over green fields, trees and mountains
Flowers to forest fountains
Home along the lanes of the skyway
For this dark and lonely room
Projects a shaddow cast in gloom
And my eyes are mirrors
Of the world outside
Thinking of the way
That the wind can turn the tide
And the shaddows turn
From purple into grey

CHORUS

For just the skyline pigeon
Dreaming of the open
Waiting for the day
He can spread his wings and fly away again
Fly away
Skyline pigeon fly
Towards the dreams
You left so very far behind

Just let me wake in the morning
To the smell of new mown hey
To laugh and cry to live and die
In the brightness of my day
I want to hear the pealing bells
Of distand churches sing
But most of all please free me
From this aching metal ring
And open up this cage towards the sun

CHORUS

For just the skyline pigeon
Dreaming of the open
Waiting for the day
He can spread his wings and fly away again
Fly away skyline pigeon fly
Towards the dreams
You left so very far behind

Fly away skyline pigeon fly
Towards the dreams you left so very
So very far behind

A hundred years ago, Nicholas wrote in his diary: "At 1:15 this afternoon, Alix gave birth to a son... There are no words to thank God properly for the comfort he has sent us... A great, never-to-be-forgotten day." Nicky, August 12, 1904.

That's not mine, I just found it. It really personifies Aleksey beautifully I think.

I have a song for you, too, precious little Saint and prince, on your special day; the stichira I sang to you in my prayers this morning.

In Tropar tone 6:

Holy Martyred Tsarevich Alexei,/ thou hast loved the power of the Cross!/ That strength once helped thee to bear without a murmur the sufferings of an illness with no cure/And with meekest patience to endure a martyr's death with thy beloved family whilst still so young./Now, dear child, pray unto God for us/that chant this hymn in thy memory/that He may grant us also to show when put to the test/faith and patience and love like thine own.

(NOTE to those of us that sing Orthodox prayers:  A VERY nice recording of this one to the Tsarevich Martyr can be heard on the CD, 'Russian Calvary:  II - To the Holy Regal Martyrs'.  It is once more available from a US source:  www.musicarussica.com )
