I believe this is the only photo of Sisi with her children.  I remember reading in a biography of her that she refused to have photographs with her children.  She was mostly photographed with her siblings or her dogs.

Oh why is that so? Ah i think it's because of her mother-in-law. Franz's mother referred to her as a silly young mother.

Maybe from the same reason she never was photographed with her grand-children... Perhaps she thought she would look old??? Just guessing....

She doesn't want to look old.
On her later years (maybe when she was 40-above),few photos were taken of her.

It was another composite portrait using photo to make up a portrait. There is a book I bought in Vienna that tells  how that is done...

What a chaming thread we have here! Sissi was so stunningly beautiful and such a fascinating creature! I would have hated to have been her hair dresser though!

Anyway I am still rather confused about Sissi's predecessor but one, and whether she was know as Caroline Auguste/a or not? I always assumed when I have read about Empress Caroline Augusta/e this was she, and she is known and written about as Empress Caroline Augusta/e but now I am unsure because someone mentioned an Empress Augusta...goodness me....who is who?...and now I am really confused as I do not quite know what this all has to do with Empress Augusta of Germany....?!?!

Would someone please explain to us who may be a little confused by this issue, who is Augusta and who is Caroline Auguste/a.....please!! and also who is Empress Augusta of Austria? Maybe I have it all mixed up or someone has written a name incorrectly but I do not think I have ever heard of and Empress Augusta of Austria? Maybe I am not reading all the posts properly but I am confused!!! Help!!!!!

Empress Caroline Augusta and Charlotte Augusta is the same person,born Princess of Bavaria and 4th wife of Emperor Franz II...She was firstly married to Crown Prince of Wuerttemberg,but as far as I know when she married Franz she changed her name from Caroline Augusta to Charlotte Augusta or something like that and was often known as Empress Augusta...
