To Katenka: It seems to me that you are really interested in pictures of Empress Elisabeth. Have you ever thought of buying a photobook? I recommend Elisabeth. Bilder ihres Lebens. by Johannes Thiele and Elisabeth. Bilder einer Kaiserin. Portraits of an Empress. by Brigitte Hamann.

Elisabeth by Franz Schrotzberg in 1862. He also made the very well-known portrait of Archduchess Sophie (1855-1857).



Elisabeth says good bye to her beloved Lake Starnberg - a romantic drawing done in later years.



Elisabeth by Angerer. There are many more photos of this setting around 1865.

Thanks for the help  and pictures! i just wanted to see that portrait without the mark and have the picture to maybe colorize it. About the book, i ll look on inet since i have no chance to buy it over here. Thanks for the info , Marie Charlotte!

I suppose the picture is from her early youth, when she was perhaps 16 or 17.




Elisabeth and former Empress of France Eugenie on walk in Cap Martin in 1895.

She was for a several times blonde, before her hair gets darker. This was around her engagement time.

Archduchess Sophie Friederike's hair colour was blonde. I have a picture of some strands of her hair which was exhibited in Schloss Unterwittelsbach some years ago.
