Photos of Nicholas II #2
« on: July 26, 2004, 11:58:33 PM »
Here's a link to a photo of Nicholas II in a rickshaw during his nearly fatal visit to Japan while Tsarevich. Wonder how world history would've changed if the would-be assassin had succeeded? Anyway, here's the link:

There is a picture of Nicholas with a bandage on his head in Nicholas and Alexandra, The Last Imperial Family of Russia. The picture is on page 101 of the coffee table book.

I have noticed there aren't that many pictures of Nicholas as a young child around, do you have some?

Excellent pictures. The resemblence to his sister Olga is remarkable. I also detect a similar look (maybe around the eyes) to his daughter Marie. Then again maybe not. As a matter of fact in the middle picture from Angie's post above he also looks a little like Rupert Grint (Ron from the "Harry Potter" movies) :D

Otmafan, I have the book, but was hoping to see the photo on the forum for any who might not have seen it. You are a sweetheart for posting the link...thanks.
Annie, thanks for starting such a great thread, and many thank to all who have added the treasures.

Re: the photo I originally posted on...the observation was made during Nicky's life that (can't remember the source) the observer had never seen the depth of kindness, that he found in Nicky's eyes, ever before. That quality is evident in this baby photograph.

Thank you for all the wonderful pictures of Nicholas as a baby. To me, the most haunting aspect of gazing at him was brought full force when reading The Camera and the Tsars. Charlotte used the picture of Nicholas and began her introduction of him and his family.  It drew me in and really tore at me, knowing what was to come. He was such a beautiful, gentle looking little boy.

I don't know about anyone else but whenever I see baby pics of OTMA or Alexei I wish I could reach thru the photo and pick them up and rescue them from the awful way they died

I had read that the handkerchief that Nicholas pressed to his wound he received in Japan was preserved and that they had tried to use the blood on the  handkerchief when it came time to try to do the DNA testing on the bones

Does anyone have any photos of Nicholas II as a little baby? Some with his mother holding him or playing with him or with his father, or with both parents holding him as a newborn child? If so I would like to see... Thanks!!!
