The shadows in the present photo are falling on the OPPOSITE side of MA's face, rather than from a different side source of light on the faces of the others. Additionally the background has been painted-in, as opposed to the earlier version where it is a plain curtain.

According to Charlotte Zeepvat, at the very least the empress Maria Alexandrovna has been inserted into this to this portrait by hand. Zeepvat also acknowledges it's possible that this is a composite of many different poses, so perhaps this entire group never posed together at all. At any rate, it's the only image I'm aware of in which both Alexander II and the future Nicholas II appear together.

Yes, I understand, but I wanted to know if someone know who was the photographer (yes, maybe is a difficult question), and I don't think that the photo was modified in 1869 - 1870, I don't think that they had the necessary tools to do so in that time...or I'm wrong?
Yes they could, not using digital programs of course but they can retouch pictures, hand tint them and make composites in those years ;-)
