Hmm, on a Sunday afternoon, I wouldn't have thought so. ;)

I'll post an Eddy portrait to keep the post relevant:  :)

The first one I came across in my files:

Prince Albert Victor's tour of Belfast, where he expressed sympathy with Home Rule.  :)

Basilforever--the print you posted of the little boy isn't Eddy, it's Prince Albert (The Prince Consort). I've seen the illustration in some books.

Are you implying that I told an untruth?  I did not, I can assure you.  :)

No Grace, I wasn't implying that at all. I was just surprised. No offence intended.  :)

And Mrs. Eddy, I got it from gettyimages.

Here is the link:

It does look a bit like Eddy to me.  :-\

MrsEddy is correct in saying it's Prince Albert--it has been in numerous books on him. Getty, while a fabulous source for photos, can err rather frequently in their identifications. Grand Duchess Constantine (Elizabeth of Saxe-Altenberg) was ID'd as GDss Serge (Elizabeth of Hesse); Irene of Hesse wasn't from the Rhine branch but another one and so on.

Thank you Grand Duke and PrinceEddy1864 for your great pictures.  :) :)

In that last picture by Tuxen, who is that bunch of children on the right corner? Are the other Wales children there, as they were not deemed worthy of pride of place, like Eddy??

There are a couple versions of the Tuxen painting. In the one posted here, George isn't there. He was off on naval duties at the time. In another version he has been inserted in, his portrait based on a photo, I suppose.

Well is Louise, Toria and Maud anywhere about in either version, one of those background children perhaps?

The children on the right side are:

Princess Marie of Greece, Princesses Louise, Victoria and Maud of Wales, Princess Louise of Denmark, GDss Xenia of Russia, Prince Charles of Denmark (later King Haakon of Norway) and GD George of Russia.

In the caption of the French illustration, Princess Alexandra of Greece (standing next to Queen Olga) is misidentified as Princess Marie.

In the other version, I believe that George is inserted by Eddy's shoulder.
