I like Doctor Zhivago too, I have not read the book, but I have seen the movie with Omar Sharif...maybe I should have read the book first, but I saw the movie when I was 12 years old, and for that age perhaps the book would be complicated.

Yes, the version with Keria Kneightley is also wonderful, a tv-production yes but wonderful. The music in it is so beautiful, and has some Russian touches too and it is so romantic, yet tragic. And it has some changes from the movie with Omar Sharif but it is truly wonderful, greatly filmed too.

Anyway I can't wait to see War and Peace, or to read it.

I'm making a video to it - and she's one of my favorite actesses too(and I do love costume drama's so watch her movies often). It is a long production, around 200 minutes, but it is really wonderful. Romantic and heartbreaking - and it does really show the horrors of the Revolution's aftermath.

I didn't much like this TV mini series. I haven't read the novel (yet), but it was so soapy and superficial. Nor did I like the performances apart from very few exceptions. Where was all the history and philosophy so important in the book? The battles for instance were given no more than about five minutes in the entire series. The film reduced a great novel to a melodramatic drama of relationships.

I like this movie, in my opinion the actors are good...but I prefer the novel, that it's a true literary masterpiece.
