would someone be able to help me out with a reading list?
« on: March 05, 2009, 09:19:41 PM »
I just finished reading an article here:  http://www.kingandwilson.com/fotrextras/romanovchildren.htm

It's by Greg King and Penny Wilson - do either of them still post here?

My question has to do with the source list at the end of the article.  All the titles are abbreviated.  I'd like to expand my reading list with some of these sources.  Could someone please let me know where to find the full titles in the list?

Thanks!

I would recommend heading to your local library and browse through the biography and history sections - and find copies of the various Romanov biographies - and then browse through the bibliographies (the sources that the authors use) and you will be able to make your own lists.

These are all well known sources, just Google the names and do the research yourself. Most are even referenced here as well.  Some may be hard to find, but, as Marlene mentioned, your local library would be a good source. If they do not have the books, they can most likely get it through the inter-library loan.

Here are the ones I recognize:

Buxhoeveden = The Life and Tragedy of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, by Sophia Buxhoeveden
Dehn = The Real Tsaritsa, by Julia "Lili" Dehn
Gilliard = Thirteen Years at the Russian Court, by Pierre Gilliard
Hanbury-William = The Emperor Nicholas II As I Knew Him, by Sir John Hanbury-Williams
Mossolov = At the Court of the Last Tsar, by Alexander Mossolov
Vyrubova = Memories of the Russian Court, by Anna Vyrubova
Wilton = The Last Days of the Romanovs, by Robert Wilton

Botkin = The Real Romanovs, by Gleb Botkin
Fuhrmann = The Complete Wartime Correspondence of Tsar Nicholas II and the Empress Alexandra, by Joseph P. Fuhrmann
Trewin = The House of Special Purpose, by John C. Trewin
Vorres = The Last Grand Duchess: The Memoirs of Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna, by Ian Vorres

Clicking on the links in the first group will take you directly to the full texts of these memoirs on the main APTM website or Google Books. (There are additional imperial memoirs available on the APTM as well. Look in the third column, called "Resources," under the heading "Our Online Books.") Clicking the links in the second grouping will give you more information about each book.
