This photo is just too beautiful. All the girls look so pretty.

One of my favourite new rares. I just wish there were more photos available from the days when Alexandra and the girls visited hospitals more formally like this and not as part of their everyday work. Usually there's the carefully posed group photo and nothing else.

Yes, during their war-time nursing years the Romanov women rarely appeared at their hospitals out of nursing uniform. On one occasion they did, (relatively late in the war,I think) prior to going to some nearby religious ceremony when they were well dressed in civilian clothes. Those seeing them noted how rare their being dresssed that way in the hospital was. And though my memory is vague,I think the reaction was positive. Perhaps because sister nurses ,hospital staff, and soldier patients would have rarely, if ever,seen them in person  in their 'Imperial 'mode?

Wow great find Ally! I'm guessing this is Poincare's visit right around the outbreak of the First World War. Always find images from around this time haunting. You look at the faces of the subjects, especially beautiful innocent Maria, and realized they have no idea of the tidal wave of horror that's about to wash over them.

I have been collecting the Romanov images since past eight years, and I still get surprised! I am also selfish enough to wish we keep discovering more and more!

That one is great photo, Ally!
Count Voeikov's memories, 'With the Tsar and Without him' clearly describes that event. The official visit occurred in early July of 1914.

It looks like it's from a book, so that gives me hope someone could end up scanning a bigger version. The girls seem to be wearing the same outfits as in the lovely 1914 photos from Livadia.

Thanks very much and a looot for sharing those Ally! How I wish there's a way we can see all those photos in super big size~ However, these versions are better than not seeing them ^^
