Maybe TN stayed behind to be with the Empress. From what I read (could have been Massie's book) that the GD's took turns being with the Empress.

BlessOTMA is right, TN doesn’t appear in any picture from that day (there is a picture where you can see Nicholas and OMA walking beside him that clearly show no TN sign)

Larri, thanks for the photo. I must say, that Vladimir Fredericks here for it's ~ 75 y.o. and 55 years of active military/court service (he started when Alexander II reigned!) looks not bad;).

So the Grand Duke Michael was part of the Tercentenary. I read somewhere that he was banished from Russia until WWI.
