It was only after I enlarged this last one I saw the Tsar and Olga in the background amused.
Sailors, Imp and Alexis...with a gun bigger than he is and what seems to be a dead rabbit on the deck before him

Thank you for the great pics. It seems it was taken "Polar Star". It's great to see the two youngest together from an early age. I think it was taken in 1907-1908.

Some of those "sailors" look awfully young...was it common for there to be such young sailors??

Yes the railing in the first photo tells one that...open, but covered by canvas to keep children from going overboard!

  The book says '08. Thank you, I should have included that...they look older than the film footage of ring around the rosie from '07....

It looks to me though in the other thread (full photo) that both Maria and Tatiana ARE smiling at least a little bit anyhow! i think it's 1914 because it looks in the full that Tatiana has her bob! Ah but that's just my opinion of course!
