I've read just the same...But now , watching them attentively, I doubt who they really are. Is she really Olga Nicholaievna?
I can almsost assure she is.

It was signed as Irina and in my opinion it just a bit like Olga N. but more like Irina.

In some of the pictures, Irina looks like Olga and sometimes like Tatiana, but here I could be wrong but I think it’s Irina, the girl in the picture has similar eyes like Irina. There is a photo from the same day that include Olga, I will post later when I upload it to my photobucket.

The first picture does not contain Irina. It's Olga A., Anastasia, and Olga N. These photographs were taken in the Crimea in 1913 during an archaeological dig at Khersones.

Olga N. looks like herself, so I can't understand mistaking her but if anything, her head is tilted which could confuse you.

It was a custom since before they could remember. Nothing special.

Thank you for the pictures, blessOTMA. I always wanted to see that one close up!!

Holly,  I had a feeling you'd say that.  =). You are welcome .  I find it interesting....AN looks like she will just be shaking their hands...I wonder if that's how the hand kissing gesture started , or  she was indeed just shaking hands...hard to see how that would be.  It's a great photo.

You're onto me, blessOTMA!

I've seen a few films of the children going through this practice and it does look as if they're about to shake hands. The hand is offered in a similar fashion and both raise their arms for the men to kiss them. If I remember correctly, this photograph was also taken at the same time as a film of them.

I scanned and cropped this photograph. It's one of my favorites of Anastasia. I love her expression.

Sunny I did notice it...thank you for mentioning it =) it reminds me of how she would  look as a child...a sweet little smile and indeed : royal.
This photo is such a window into thier world where getting one's hand kissed is as much a fact of life as 2+2=4....remarkable . What a diffreance a year later

I was thinking about it like you... and it's so interesting to see how Olga was conscious of being the first - born, without be too preposterous, but just being conscious... don't know i i managed to explain myself  ;)
