I remember in one of the Romanov documentaries there was an old man recalling how when he was a child in Tobolsk, when the IF was lodged at the Governor's House, that citizens used to go and watch when members of the family used to go out on the balcony to take in some air. The young people of Tobolsk (like this gentlemen) used to look at the GDs with their hair as "short as boys" and wonder if this was the new style in St.Petersburg or such. Of course none of the folks in Tobolsk knew the girls had been sick and that it wasn't a "style" but just their hair growing back.

I have always thought that Olga and Maria resembled each other the most out of all the siblings. They look very similar indeed especially in their pictures as adolescents.

Well, okay, here's my two kopek's worth . . .  Tatiana and Alexei seem to have a shared resemblance, with both taking after their mother more than their father, and Olga and Marie share a resemblance, taking after their father's side of the family. As for Anastasia . . . an amazing amalgam, tho' perhaps more her mother's side than her father's!

OM Nikolaevna look very alike, but Maria Nikolaevna has a slightly chubbier face.

I think Olga and Marie Nikolaevna look very much alike,and to me they have the look of their father.Tatiana and Anastasia Nikolaevna as well as Alexei Nikolavitch resemble each other and they have the look of their mother.But when I look at them all together I can seem some of Alix and Nicky in all of them.Nicky and Alix were definately blessed with very beautiful children.

Hi guys!  I'm new here but I've been reading all of your posts and I think it's great.  I'm replying to the last comment about Olga and Maria often being mixed up by Anastasiafan I believe.  I have to say that it might be somewhat hard to mix them up especially up close because Olga is very slim and Maria is kind of chunky.  However they do have a bit of a similar look regardless of the weight difference. I also thought that especially when younger that Olga and Tatiana both looked very similar, and when they were in their early teens.  But that's just little 16 year old me I guess.

I think Tatiana looks a little bit more like Nocholas than Alexandra, but that might be because of all the pictures I've seen of her.

Maria and Alexei look a lot alike. They had the same facial coloring, I think.

I think Tatiana Nikolaevna looks the most unlike anyone else. I wonder who she got her wide-set eyes from?
