Yeah, I read that book too. It is by Victor Alexandrov, and it is a known fact that he didn't really know what he was talking about lol

Just re-reading my translation of the IF items found in Ekaterinburg after the murders.  Three reels of Kodak film were found burned in the stove of Popov house. So even partially burnt, any images would have been impossible to retrieve using the technology of the day.
At the house of the guard Letemine was found a wide-view camera and 33 glass negative plates. Their whereabouts lost after cataloguing by Sokolov.

It seems highly unlikely that any pictures taken had survived. The paper prints, if any surely did not survive burning.

Friends...
   I may be posting thgis query at the wrong thread---but please be patient....would anyone know if the Romanovs has a private darkroom in which to develope their photos?
  I doubt that they could stop over at the local chemists and have their snaps developed there? Or was there an Imperial photgrapher who would prepare their candid personal  and casual shots?

They did at the AP, I think. I seem to recall a picyure of them init. I do not know about at Tobolsk though. I would imagine the had them "sent out" Just a guess.

That book really annoyed me with all of it's false labelings and stuff.  >:(
