Leonid Sednev

I have just discovered this wonderful discussion board and am thrilled since I read everything I can find about Nicholas, Alexandra and their family.  
My question: Has anyone come across any information on the fate of the "kitchen boy" Leonid Sednev?  (The recent novel of that name was pure fiction--although fun to read.)  History books tell us that the boy was taken from the Ipatiev house to the Popov house the morning before the murders and, apparently, was sent home to his province the next day.  I have never found any other references to him.   Does anyone have any additional information?

Thank you, Ms. Wilson. I myself have often wondered what happened to young Sednev. I knew he survived for a few years but little else. His "memoirs" if they do still exist would make fascinating reading. He was the only one of the intimate members of the Iptiev House to survive that night, and what he could tell about the family's existence during that time must be interesting. Please keep us advised on the search for his memoirs.

When I was reading The Kitchen Boy, I was often wondering what happend to the real Leonid Sednev, since that information doesn't seem to be found in any of the books about the Romanovs. It would indeed be interesting to find out why he died at such a young age (Stalin's purges perhaps? Or the famine of the 1920's? Or did he die a little too early for those?). I bet his memoirs can shed some more light on the last days of the family and I hope they have not been destroyed the same way the 'house of special purpose ' was.... Thanks for the info, Penny.

There was some discussion that was erie about Alexei and Leonka swirtching places, and Alexei becomeing a hermit in the Koptyaki forest and dieing there in 1973..Any truth to this matter?

for my above statement, peole thought it because the two were very alike in looks and stature, but i dont beleive Alexei was even well enough to walk about, even to be pretending to be Leonka. And about the hermit, Alyosh didnt seem to be the type to be quiet and ingnored...

Does anyone know his patronym? I read in a book (can't remember which one) that they gave it as Ivanovich. I did not think that this was possible due to the fact that Ivan Dmitrievich Sednev was his uncle. Leonid's father could not have had the same name as his brother. The book seemed well researched (I think it was the final diary of Alexandra) and I wasn't sure if it was a mistake or not.

I have wondered about him and what he looked like ever since I read The Kitchen Boy. I read that he died while in his early twenties but not what happened to him. I wonder if he died from ilness or accident or was he killed by the Reds?
