In a world where singers, actors and sporting "stars" are now treated as if they're the most important people on the planet, why shouldn't Her Majesty lap up a few days of adulation anyway - she's plodded on for decades, often not terribly appreciated for her efforts at the head of a family many now resent as a symbol of bygone wealth and privilege. This is a very rare occasion of celebration (given the last Diamond Jubilee was in 1897) all can participate in if they choose to and at the same time ignore if they choose to. If we regard it as too much to spend a few short days to thank Elizabeth II for a lifetime of devoted service to Britain and the Commonwealth then I think it would be pretty miserable state of affairs.
Hear Hear Hear for the Lady Downunder!!
And those who disagree are kindly requested to skip this particular thread alltogether and safe us from
unnessecary readings of toastracks that went for sale and then were too kitsch...plu-eeeaas-se.as easy
as one two three.I myself ofcourse love to hear about HM much more then the carnaval of verbal diarrhea
from across the Pond spewing our way come november.....Can't hear enough on a Lady so dignified and so
dutyfull that is is to Her people refer to if they explain the very meaning of the very word "duty",and so for
60 years that the Empire gone out of the window reduced to a few isles off the Dutch coast...grin...
Even though she's not my Queen, and we here have a extraordinary capable one ourselves,I've always
admired Aunt Lillibeth. She's never set a foot wrong, try that in a span of 60 years!?I truly can't think of anyone
who achieved the same, not here nor in real life,I certainly didn't...
But nonetheless,we will celebrate as planned and as bountyfull and joyfull as one wishes not to be
hampered by any sour remark, intended or not.
Back to topic!!
