Let me just say that today is in fact Marie's birthday according to the Gregorian calendar. Marie was simply the best , a dear, precious, kind, and yes, beautiful,  girl  and saint.  I am  deeply moved simply by the thought of her  and her life and will remember her always. The world was better for her brief presence in it. May she be in eternal peace.

I couldn't agree more...I was thinking yesterday ( and this is true for them all ,)  13, 17, 19, 21, 22 years is vastly better than none...we ,the world, at least had 19 years of Marie's presence.

Usually I stick with the Gregorian calendar and June 26th for her birthday, but I don't see any problem in wishing the lovely Marie Nikolaevna a happy birthday twice!

Or thrice. I guess  you could go with June  26th ,Gregorian calendar, but that pretty much ceased to work at the end of the 19th century,; thus , even in the Gregorian style, her big day was the 27th in the 1900s. Alll three dates are a way of looking at it. I opt for today.


So, Happy birthday to the sweet,strong, beautiful and truly angelic, Mashka! Always, always remembered.
