When I was speaking about "Nicholas II last photo", I was referring to the KNOWN ones...But yes, it would be very hard to know which one was really "the last one".

It is known that the Bolsheviks in Yekaterinburg made mug-style photos of the IF for identification purposes. Perhaps these -- if they still exist -- would be the last photos?

To be more accurate - the last photos when the Family was alive.

Good point!  ;)

When the IF's cameras & film were confiscated, is it known for certain whether the film was destroyed?

We do not know for certain. It would be something if one day we do find out that the films were developed and the photos were preserved.

I was not saying that we should know these pics  "soon". I do not think we can saw these photos (if they really exist, anyway), at least not in the following few years.

As for the films and cameras that were confiscated I do not think the Bolsheviks would have distroyed them. They were not fool. These pics are documents, and precious ones. They must be in some Russian Archive. But I do not think we may see them soon. However, I suppose that the mug-shot style photos must have survived too, and in this case I think that they could be known in a relative near future, for they are not offensive, nor morbide ones. Just faces...

Perhaps. But we don't even know for sure if there were any exposed frames on the film that was confiscated. It might very well have been blank, unused film. Further, item #96 on the list linked below shows that 'Three spools of film, "Kodak" 12 1/2 by 10' were found in the stove of the Popov House after the executions, which suggests that everyday snapshots might not have seemed at all important to the guards.

On the other hand, item #254 on the list shows that "two boxes with 33 negatives" were found in the home of the guard Michael Ivanov Letemine. For all we know, these could be the Tobolsk photos we've already seen. There's quite simply no way to find out at this point.

Another question: did the IF develop any of their own photos during their time in Tobolsk, or were the photos processed after their death? It seems to me that the guards were suspicious of the developing chemicals, but I don't recall at what point during their captivity that the chemicals were actually forbidden.
