Green Dining Room, Catherine Palace
« on: August 22, 2020, 06:27:55 PM »
The Green Dining Room in Paul I's apartments in the Catherine Palace currently has a ceiling that is completely white. Before the war, it had a painted ceiling. As I recall, the ceiling design was from the 19th century, and they decided not to restore it because it was not from the right time period. No one knows what the original design was.

Has anyone else heard something similar? Does anyone have a good photo of the ceiling from before the war? Every picture I've seen only shows a small portion of the edge.

Thanks!
