"Prince" Meshki-Gleboff
« on: July 06, 2009, 10:03:05 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has any information on "Prince" George Meshki-Gleboff?  He is featured in an article in the Los Angeles Times Column One dated Jan. 10, 2009, regarding Imperial Jewelry.  It can be found by pasting this website into your brower:

I thank you in advance for your time.

There are no Princes Glebovs or Meshi-Glebovs between Russian Nobility. There is untitled noble family of the Glebovs.

All the story with Gobi Desert made me laugh heartily. Sounds like a badly-written fiction story - esp. in the moment when Gleboff and Co decided to bury the jewels after driving off the bandits in a shootout . So they hastily broke the ground in 7-8 cubic meters down? and what the bandits were doing? Driving around and waiting for? Nonsense.

Exactly what I thought.  The author of the article asked the descendent why her father used the title of prince, she replied that he was a branch of the Eristovs.  What is the possibility of this title?  Is this a case of a soi-disant Prince trying to get a social background in America?

Princes Eristov are one of the ancient Georgian noble families. Possibly Gleboff was a distant descendant of them, and he definitely wanted to get a social background , as you said, in USA.
