Need help - Anne Boleyn in France
« on: August 06, 2009, 01:17:24 PM »
I'm leaving for a trip to France on 24 August.  I would like to visit places that Anne Boleyn might have been at while she served in the French court.  Geeky as I am, I'm not quite sure which palaces or chateaus those would be.  Can anyone tell me?  Thanks!!

The Chateau de Blois is mentioned.    Renee of France had as a companion during her Childhood Anne Boleyn and this residence seems to be a favorite of the Royal Family of France at that period. Her Sister Claude Queen of France had Anne in her court and it is mentioned She acted as translator in one source. I hope any of this helps. Please post pictures when you get back! :)

Claude of France was married at the Cathedral de Saint Germain I have read and the Chateau was used by the Royal Family

I just knew that Anne was lady in waiting of an important French lady, she called her "petite Anne"
but i don't know if for her height or for her age.

I think Anne served as Lady in waiting more to one of Henry's sisters then with Queen Claude. But I can't remember exactly its been a little while. I just know that she did serve one of Henry's sisters at one point in France.

Anne served the Archduchess Margaret at Lille, then joined her sister in the retinue of Mary Tudor upon her marriage to King Louis. After Mary Tudor was widowed and married Charles Brandon, Anne was invited by the new King to enter the household of his consort, Queen Claudia, who I *believe* (not sure) resided at Amboise? Or somewhere apart from Francis and his licentious court
