Wow, I didn't know that Det Gule Palæ was built by Frederik Bargum, a rich merchant who started Det kongelig octroierede Guineiske Compagnie, a company that had a state monopoly on buying and transporting slaves from West Africa (among other places the Danish possession Christiansborg, now Ghana's capital Accra) to the sugar plantations in the Danish West Indies* (modern US Virgin Islands) and the sugar back to Denmark. Admitted, he had already completed Det Gule Palæ when he went from trading in timber and tobacco to humans.

* BTW the now so noble and to the manor born Castenskiolds, who have married into the Danish RF, made their fortune in the Danish West Indies - as slave-owning planters.
