Hello my name is Cathy Romanoff and I am a direct descendent of Czar Nicholas Romanov-I am looking for information regarding my great grandfather. His name was Alexsander Nicholas Romanoff. He came to NYC per the Czars request to purchase arms. He was an architect/engineer who worked for the Russian Mission in NY. He was also an actor-did some work out in california and married my great grandmother-last name of Schuchuck(sp?). they were married in NY and had one son, my grandfather, Nicholas Alexander Romanoff. My great grandfather died when grandpa was 12 of TB. My grandfather had 2 children-Nicholas Alexander Romanoff and Lynn Romanoff- I am looking for any information about my great grandfather, if this should ring a bell with anyone, you can contact me on facebook-Cathy Romanoff or my email crlagrua@gmail.com. thanks!

Presuming that she is talking about the Emperor Nicholas II (rather than Emperor Nicholas I), and since all his immediate family perished, how can she consider herself a "direct descendant" ??  Oh, well, another for the files!   (Thank you, "Grand Duchess Ally", for posting this item from "Katerina" on the "OTMA Forum-Four dearest angels" Forum Board, in the "Survivor claimants" Section, August 10, 2009.   I see that no one there to date has picked up specifically on the "direct" aspect.)   AP

My search for information on Cathy Romanoff reveals that she is a big fan of singer and chanteuse Susan Boyle of the UK.  That right there completely disqualifies her for any consideration as being related to Tsar Nicholas and his extended family relations.

She should know that we have certain standards for entertainment of royals and the raunchy Idol show of television fame is so far off track that it puts her nearer to Hee Haw that the Imperial Court of Russia.

But I must add that I still think that David Archuleta should have won.  See his entry here:

Oh, I'm sure many did, but felt as I...why bother.  I wonder if anyone has kept a tally of the spurious Romanovs and other royalty that has shown up here.

I assumed she was referring to NII, rather than NI.  But in either case it seems she was perhaps "misinformed" to be generous.

I'm glad you said something for the record tho, you never know who strolls thru here and takes what they see as gospel truth.  That's why I pointed out the inconsistencies in the latest "Hohenzollern" to show up.  Of course she just wants photos, yeah right.

Regards,
T

i also recieved that message.

I think its is just another girl who still fantasizes about the movie "anastasia"

Ps1 : here an update

"My name is Christine Romanoff Morris. My greatgrandfather was Prince Alexsander Nicholas. He was also a Balashov and Obolensky (spelling). I am sisters with Catherine Romanoff and she too is looking for information on my great-grandfather. I was interested in finding people who could possibly be related to me or info regarding my great-grandfather. We are distant relations to Nicholas II but my great-grandfather knew him well and they were considered cousins. He was a member of the Russian mission in NYC during the time of the revolution and spent time in North Carolina, doing what I do not known. He was an engineer and helped to develop the NYC subway. He died young and left a legacy that I am desperately trying to search for. I would be so happy to get in contact with other family members, even if they do not have any information".

Ps: Another _Facebook Looneys...

"Ok, I am adopted and I don't know much about my family, but i do know that I am the great grand nephew of of Vladimir Romanov. I don't know how, and I know very little Russian. My adoption agent place was S.W.A.F if you don't believe me, I'll post more info When i find out more"

And the funniest of all

"i'm a Romanov.. well.. kind of, my grandmother is Russian (gypsy family) and my dad told me that she's the descendant of the Romanovs. He said the tsar had gypsy lovers so we're not royalty or anything...
my granma never talks about her faily, tho.."

I was about to say to her : Dude.,.what kind of weed your parents are smoking?

Well, with her allegedly own SISTER'S information, we HAVE made some movement, at least in the "Cathy Romanov" case:  we have now moved from "direct" descent (initial post) to "distant relations" and "considered cousins" (Reply # 4) !   Fascinating!  Watch History change before your very eyes!   AP

The finniest thing is that the owner of the group  actually believes in her

Cathy Romanoff returns ...

It has come to my attention that my post-requesting information regarding the lineage of my family has become quite the conversation on the web!!! How honored I feel!! I honestly cant say I am surprised-I do understand that there are skeptics out there and yes I have bumbled my information, I have very little to go on and this is why I joined the site-for support and information-not mockery. I have to admit there have been many that have really tried to help-and it is not that I am seeking anything, or that I look to claim that I am "some royal". I am just a modern day woman-looking for a little help. I am not a geneologist, nor am I a historian-kudos to all of you who have that education and information at your fingertips. I am in medicine-I take care of sick people-far cry from history-this is why I decided to turn to this group for support. But I suppose one must draw a line between maturity and the terrible need for something to do. So to all of the skeptics out there-continue on with your conversations-I find them amusing-but if you should have a rational moment and have something important to add, please do-we are still going through paper work and trying to piece together information. Piece of advice-listen to your grandparents when they sit you down to share vital family information-that way you have more to add so others can help you. And for the record, yes, I did enjoy Susan Boyle, she had a beautiful voice!!! I am open to any and all discussions and any insight on any information that could be of help. Thank you everyone and good night to all my fans out there!! Warm regards, Cathy Romanoff

Amplifying further on this topic:  At  the site, "OTMA Forum-Four dearest angels :: Home", under the section "Survivor claimants",  see pages 1 & 2 of "Person claims to be descendant of Nicholas," for an interesting, somewhat emotional-laden exchange of viewpoints, including the "descendant/s."   You do not have to be a member to just READ most of the site and apparently a number of the AP Forum already scan the site.  (It now appears that the "Nicholas" in question is Nicholas I. )    AP

ohh Cathy is whinning over there.

Her sister put the things clear about the "direct descendant" stuff. She said clearly that Prince Alexander was a distant relative and that Nicholas "considered" him as a cousin. "Considered" its waaay different to really being cousing of Nicholas II

I´m also a member there, and I cannot understand why would you have a need to send anybody there in this manner. It´s obviously not the greatest historical forum ever and the members there are usually young girls whose primary interest is OTMA. It is a place to enjoy a company and share views - and even though you may find them funny it is not a reason to ridicule them like this.
