AP Rooms from OTMA Diaries
« on: August 20, 2009, 12:23:21 PM »
Can I have a few volunteers who have time to be the contact names so I can start sharing the OTMA diaries with everyone on the forum who wants a copy?

It is diaries/lettes of 1914-1917 and is transliteral (!). The file is big of 118 pages and I use Font 9 to print but Font 12 to read on laptop.

There are details of the rooms that it would be great if all can contribute with excerpts on this thread and later we can incorporate as addendums to Yakovlev’s. One in just quick reading trying to fix the file before sending was of diary entry of Olga (I think!) where at 11:00 at night they sit on a chair in corridor. I have not had time myself to figure out what corridor – was it the 2nd floor outside their bedrooms – did it have chairs c1915 or may have been in Alexei’s corridor.

Joanna, what was the date in 1915? Perhaps we can match it up to the letters and diaries to see what would have had them up and in the corridor at that hour.

Tornados, wild lightening here. Again this morning it looks another coming and I clique off.

Sarushka has volunteered as contact to help send out. I do hope still many will want it and contribute excerpts from reading. So, with hope, and to help on first "rush", any who have my email and would like a copy, pm or email me and I will send it first.

Robert, I am lost on entry now. I tried "find" but as words were not together as I wrote it, I cannot find it yet. I am fixing footnotes that I had thought would clarify - bad idea - so now I just will put it back to way it was. Storms tomorrow and Sunday again so I will send it tonight however it looks by then.

Oh, how I wish I knew Russian! I would have been delighted to help. I definitely can't wait to read what everyone comes up with.

Joanna has shared her preliminary English translation with me, and I'm working toward shaping that raw material into something that reads more fluidly. I'm almost up to November of 1914 so far...

For those interested with their copy of the diaries - I am first extracting parts of the diaries that relate to Anna Vyrubova but to give you an idea of transliteral translation that are annoying. In Tatiana’s diary of December 29, 1914 a line reads:
“…Then go for a Mamaent to Ana, where she was the niece, my goddaughter…”

It should read:
“…Then we went for a minute to Anya where her niece, my goddaughter, was …”
