Such a splendid pictures, the Palace seems to be in its former glory partly, and I really wanna go there someday, it is such a beautiful place and takes us back into the past, into their world and times. It are amazing pictures, now I really wanna go there, everytime I seem to find out that my future trip to Russia seems to grow longer and longer, but as long as I am not 18 and do not have the money I can only dream, but I am saving some money, intended for that trip, because I really wanna visit Russia, and so many places there.

Thank you for such beautiful pictures.  I am so glad that they have a portrat of the family.   At least they have a place of honor in the home that they loved.

Bob, I wonder if the word written on the wall is German such as Gruppenfuehrer or derogratory term that was left for the Russians? It appears that there was an attempt to wipe it as the photo was taken in the first days of the breakthrough of Pushkin. It is incredible how the stairs appear to have been wrenched out of the supports. The upper mantle by their feet may have been restored and is original to the room of what we see today.

For me it looks more ike russian... it look not similar to writing which used in Germany before/during/after the war....

I have tried to find perhaps a better place for this topic, and immediately apoligize if this does not qualify, but recently came across this....www.romanovdynasty.com
unforunately, i cannot get it to work for me, though I saw the website briefly and was intrigued. If anyone has any further or perhaps better information for this page, much appreciated, and agin i do wish to apologize if this is already a topic or posted elsewhere that I did not see and hope nobody will take offense.

I'd like to share my pictures made at Tsarskoe Selo in June 2009. Pictures of AP are near the bottom. Unfortunately, I had a point-and-shoot camera, which prevented me from making good pictures of the interiors.

If anyone can help me add captions for some rooms in AP, I'd be greatful.

I'm trying to add comments directly to your album but having no luck. Hopefully this will help:

White chairs and tables: Mauve Boudoir
Piano: Alexandra's formal reception room
Polar bear rug: Maple drawing room
THE LOST CROWN: A Novel of Romanov Russia -- now in paperback!
"A dramatic, powerful narrative and a masterful grasp of life in this vanished world." ~Greg King

I've looked at these splendid photos many times over the years, and thank you for posting them.  They really are beautiful pictures.  One question:  Could somebody please translate - or paraphrase - the text describing the picture of the chandelier in Alexandra's former bath/wardrobe/dressing room?  I picked out "1941," "reconstruction," and "Catherine Palace."  It makes me hungry for more.
