Imperial houses in Poland: Spala, Skierniewice, Bialowieza

Spala is about 100 km from Warsaw. It usually takes less than hour to get there.

Theres nothing left from the palace, but, like maksymilian333 said, you can see some buildings from the romanovs period. Anyway, Spala is a nice place to visit, with beautiful forest. Im going there next week, so i'll try to make some photos that may interest you.

Is there something else near Warsaw that's linked to the Romanovs that I can also visit?
I don't know much about Warsaw or Poland actualy. I was born there but moved to Belgium at the age of 6.

Just got to this particular site and the picture link to spala.pl. Never been there but when I opened the page, my eyes just took in the breathless beauty of the place.   What about the Royal Castle in Warsaw? Has it ever been one of the Romanov residenses in Poland? If not, what was the Castle's fate when Poland became a part of Russian Empire?
   And also about the Palace of Belveder in Warsaw. Any Romanovs' connections? I believe I have read  that the Belveder in warsaw was at one time GD Konstantine's (Pavlovich) Residence. Any Romanovs at the Belveder after him?

I don’t remember anything about Belweder palace in Warsaw, but Lazienki palace was bought by Russian Imperial family. The  Royal Castle, Ujazdow and Saxonian Palace were  also under Russian “protectorate”. In result, It was the catastrophe for Polish culture - Russian monarchy took a lot  of treasures from Polish art heritage.  It was started by confiscation of Zaluski library (the core of S-Petersburg public library) and have been continuing during XIX century. That’s why a lot of art treasures from Lazienki  and Royal castle came to Russia.    For details, look the article of baron Vrangel in “Starye gody” – “Art and czar Nicolas I” .  All the picture of Polish origin (like, for examples, pastel portraits of Louis Marteau, or oil portraits of Poniatowski family  by Bacciarelli  Nicolas I ordered to burn down !!!!!!), the foreign  (like Fragonard, Kaufmann or van der Gelder) now in Hermitage.

I am headed to Poland at the invitation of Schloß Pless for the opening of an exhibition on European royalty this Spring...I will also visit Schloß Fürstenstein.  I am so very tempted to spend an extra couple of days in poland visiting what is left of the Romanov presence!

Here is a painting by M.Zichy portraying a family dinner in Spala in August 1894.



We see Alexander III's back,his spouse MF and Tsesarevitch Nikolay are to his right. In front of Nikolay is GD Georgiy, his brother.To Alexander's left  is sitting GDss Maria Pavlovna-elder. GD Vladimir is coming down the steps.

but the location was identified as Spala.  Clearly from the Photo, it is Bielovez.
