Historical/Imperial/Romanov Collections
« on: September 14, 2009, 05:32:08 PM »
Reading through many topics here, it seems that a lot of members have access to or even ownership of some very interesting historical collections.

Whether it be something so simple as a library of nonfiction books about the Romanovs, or photo albums, or letters or memorabilia or replicas or Faberges- anything and everything- Romanov history or otherwise- what do you have?

I'm very curious to hear some answers.

As for me, I have just a few books on the Imperial Family, Anna Anderson, and some fictions too. I've also a small icon of the Romanov family, blessed in St. Petersburg.

So what does everyone have?

I have some books about the Romanovs:

- Nicholas II and the tragic end of the Romanovs

- Pomp, power and pageantry in the reign of Nicholas II

- The fate of the Romanovs

- The end of the Romanovs

- Tsar - the lost world of Nicholas and Alexandra

- The private album of the Russian Imperial family

- A biography of Tsar Nicholas I

- A biography of Tsar Alexander II

And two novels about the Romanovs:

- The Romanov prophecy by Steve Berry

- Fire Ice by Clive Cussler (although I usually like Cussler's books, unfortunately I have to say that I don't like this particular novel).

And also, I have some coins from the Imperial Russia time.

I think it´s definitely worth buying because of numerous yet unseen pictures of the yacht and Imperial family, but one can only truly appreaciate the volume if he/she reads Russian. Thankfully I can read Russian alphabet and even though my knowledge of the language is close to minimum, I understand most of the text since Czech is so very similar to Russian.

Thankyou for that, unfortunatley i am unavble to read Russian yet but am gradually learning, ever so slowly.
I have the following books:
Romanov Autumn
The Real Romanovs by Gleb Botkin
The sokolov investigation
The secret plot to save the Tsar
The last dary of Tsaritsa Alexandra
Thirteen years at the Russian court
The Romanovs and Mr Gibbes
The Kitchen boy
Alexei and Me
Alexei and Rasputin
NICHOLAS II The family album
The Russian army and the first world war
I recomend all of these books, the Sokolov investigation i found to be a little challenging as im not very forensically minded

I have to add:

Today i bought Alexandra by carolly erickson. I have already read the book and it did not strike me as a too good biogrphy, but a.) I think it´s not THAT bad b.) I was happy to find something on the Romanovs in the bookstore at all!
