This was posted a while, but now we can see here a bit more of her skirt

Here is the colorized, full portrait version of the previously posted photo. This color print is about 4'x3' and in a large gold frame. It hangs at a museum in Braunschweig. The blue highlight is a reflection off the glass, not part of the image.

Her wedding tiara is currently on display at the Landesmuseum's exhibit on 1913.

Large portraits of both VL and EA are at the entry area of the exhibit.

Beautiful photos HerrKaiser, thank you for sharing them...

Is there maybe any better picture of EA? Too bad one can't see the painting in whole :(

Here's a better image of the EA portrait as well as VL. Both done by the same painter, Gustav Rienacher.

And, the Torch Dance, a traditional German wedding celebration ceremony that has become common practice around the world (except the torches have been replaced by hankerchiefs, ribbons etc) where the bride is led to the dance floor and begins the dance with her father. Then the groom and his mother followed by other parents trading partners etc until the immediate family is all dancing surrounded by footmen holding large torches.

Thanks Marc; you're welcome. Here is the actual telegram sent by Nickolas and Alexandra to Willhelm on the engagement of Victoria Luise. Sorry for the out-of-focus photo; camera auto focus through glass was wrong.

The text reads in english, "Delighted to hear good news and wish (?) daughter every blessing and happiness. Love to Victoria. Alix, Nicky"

You can see it was sent from Tsarskoe Selo palace.

Found a bit less yellowish verssion of the lovely portrait of reply  #225, sadly it was small and could not enlarge it as much as I wanted without damaging the pic, anyways, here it goes:

Wonderful new material HerrKaiser, the tiara is very beautiful as well as the portraits and illustrations, thanks for sharing! :-)

The wedding of Viktoria Louise of Prussia
*****This image is courtesy: ndr.de *****

A bit bigger here!!

I know that this was mentioned a few pages before, but I wonder if anyone has a better verssion of this portrait (not minding if it is only in b&w) of Viktoria Louisa that was located on a ship that was named after her. These are the only two views of the portrait that I have ever seen.

A bit bigger here!

Is the small boy in the sailor suit next to the Empress the Crown Prince's eldest son Wilhelm? If so, the rather indistinct child behind him is presumably the next sibling.

Is the boy in the Eton collar Oskar or Joachim? I think it looks more like Joachim, but I'm  not certain.

Any idea who is the third person walking with VL and EA? It looks rather like Oskar, but again I'm not certain. Clearly a pre-war picture, from the uniforms  the two men are wearing.
