Umm... Are we talking about the same Alix?  I'd love to see that happen!

"Yo, sister, how 'bout a wheelchair race?"

"You're on!  Eat my dust!"

But seriously, I wonder if that actually could have happened.  *starts day-dreaming with mouth wide open*

hey, why not? I know Alix was rather strict, but come on guys, she wasn't a robot or anything, everybody needs some fun sometimes!

I've read in Charlotte Zeepvat's book that once in 1904 she was in Gatchina with Sophie Buxhoeveden. After the evening spent there with MF and some strict elder ladies-in-waiting, she and Sophie went to a sleigh ride with GD Mikhail Alexandrovich through the park, whih was full of snow of course. While they all were enjoying the ride, suddenly the sleigh skidded and bothe women fell out into the snow! Luckily the snow was really downy and deep, so they didn't hurt themselves, and after a while, Alix just burst out laughing and said 'What would all those ladies thought about it? They simply cannot discover that fact! They would find it too terrible even to name it!' and then they all got back to the sleigh.

*SORRY FOR MY TERRIBLE TRANSLATION, I HAD A REALLY HARD DAY TODAY*

so you see, she also enjoyed being a bit crazy and having fun sometimes:)

Is it true that Alexandra, while on a trip to a spa, decided to have a wheelchair race with someone? One of her siblings, I think......
Some sort of wheelchair racing took place when she was taking the waters in Harrogate in the summer of 1894.

I don't remember in which book I read it. I'm not even sure whether it was a true 'competition' or just them going downhill at high speed.

*gaping in awe*  And the Russian people thought she was an android or something like that.  Maybe she's not going to be as boring to write about as I thought.

I can probably guess what Nicholas was thinking in that picture (if I interpreted it correctly):

*groan*   "Hey, look, I can see the palace from here!  Oh, it's probably only another...5 miles....  Aw, I'm never going to make it!"

hahaha:) but well, I think it wasn't so hard to pull the wheelchair with her here, see, the man behind pushes the vehicle, so it's easier:)

One of the things Alexandra enjoyed is dressing-up. I wonder why she did not do this kind of enjoyment with her children. I think she was not able because of her illness and constant worry over Alexei.

We did indeed.  Shun the non-photographic rememberers (IDK)?
