I was browsing around on the net the other day and came across this second version of the 1901 portrait by VK Shtemberg of Ella



and this is the other version that I already knew about (but didn't know the artists name)



does anyone have any idea where either of these portraits are to be seen?

Nope, it the same one. Its just that the forum resizes all the images to fit well and not deform the topic.

Yes it is. I can't be certain in the golden one is simply a badly photographed copy of the new image I've found or that there are two different paintings by the same artist. It wasn't that unusual for an artist to copy their own painting at the request of the client so either is a possiblity. It would help to know if at least one of the portraits was in a musuem.

but I've put it here to compare to this other one I recently stumbled across which is a slight variation on the same image from the same photo shoot, which I thought some people here might find interesting.



they are very similar, but when you look at them you realise her head has moved and they are not the same..

i knew that one. I think it was posted before but with a watermark from that page who has lots of images of russian royals from the Garfk

You mean this one?  It looks a bit dodgy here from the way the forum changes the photo to make it look more grainy, but it should print well and look good...



This photo is also from this photo shoot and I'm sure there are others we haven't seen yet...
