i probably am, it wouldn't surprise me, but i found a picture of ella (as a nun) wearing a large cross around her neck- however it was not an orthodox cross, but a C of E one, its a picture i think is pretty common- one i saw all the time, but i never noticed it before- what am i missing? please explain someone?

I don't know about orthodox crosses, but do you mean this picture?

actually I think it is an orthodox cross. You can see that the top section shows what looks like a fat bar across it. You have to look closely though. See this for more information

so it is, my eyes are worse than i thought! thanks, i can actually see the diagonal bar too, it was just more merged into the vertical bar than i expected! thanks!

i was looking for a picture in the LOC archives and i found this one labeled as "Funeral ceremony over the remains of Princess Elizabeth, sister of the Czarina & her maid, in the Russian Church of the Magdalene on the Mt. of Olives. Jan. 30th, 1921"

I have that picture--it was published in the Illustrated London News of that year. It didn't mention the Czarina, just Elizabeth and perhaps Barbara. There were about 3 pictures taken altogether--at least that I've seen. L'Illustration published some as well.

the one boy is Ernie, from left to right, Irene (who sit) Alix, Ella and Victoria (situng) and their husbands stand very brave beside them. ^^

its seems like that irene hold the hand of alix and victoria hold the arm of ella. or ?

All the poses are from Tuxen's giant portrait of QV's descendants for her jubilee. I don't know if this was a separate sitting for the Hesses (like the Wales family and others) or not. The poses are virtually identical to that in the portrait but the positioin to each other is off. That makes me think it could be a later composite--especially given that Henry & Irene weren't even engaged at the Jubilee, I don't think. They could have been married however, by the time the original group portrait was done--I don't know how long it took Tuxen. In the original Ella is reaching towards someone else and you also have little Alice.
