you look through every book you see that has something even remotely to do with them (eg. WW1, royalty, princesses, etc.) to see if there is mention of them even if you've read it in different words before

I used to do that in encyclopedias, dictionaries and those big books on the history of the world before I got Internet.
I would always look up "tsar", "Romanov", "Nicholas II", and even "Anastasia"!
I usually ended up just finding a little sentence or usually nothing.
I was 10 and I wanted to learn about the Romanovs and this curiosity became my interest in them. It's been almost four years.

I've been researching them since I was 8. I saw the animated movie and loved it, and I was told that she was real. Not long afterward, I checked out every book I could find at the library. Reading about NAOTMAA is basically how I remembered the begining/ending dates of WWI... also, at Anime Detour (a convention), my friends and I are having a group go as the IF (I'm just going as a servant, really). I'm more excited about the group photoshoot and getting to waltz with the "IF" more than anything else in the convention...

I used to adore the animated movie, but now I just like it out of nostalgia.

It's funny, isn't it? Reading about them and being interested in them is a great way to get ahead in your history classes (if one is taking them) while doing something really fun...I remember a lot of historical dates that way!
Here's a few more...

--Whenever you ask somebody their birthday you mentally check how close it is to the Romanovs' birthdays... "Whoa, that's only a week away from Maria's b-day!!!!"

--When your teacher talks about the Russian Revolution you could practically teach the class yourself, but listen intently anyway.

--Any dreams you have of them are remembered for a long time.

--People ask you to help them with European history all the time.

--While watching movies or shows you look for actors who look like them.

--You own a lot of movies in Russian that your friends ask about when they come over.

--(this one definitely applies to me) when a documentary about them comes on TV you command your dad to tape it!

I remember doing that last year.  I was so upset because my social studies teacher hardly taught anything.  This is pretty much what she said: "Tsar Nicholas and his wife had four girls, including the most famous, Anastasia.  They had a son named Alexis, who was a hemophiliac.  People were mad at the tsar because they wanted the right to vote and their lives were miserable.  In October 1917, Vladimir Lenin led a revolution, and the tsar abdicated.  In 1918, the imperial family was killed.  Any questions, class?"  I was dying to say more.  Now imagine that basic info in about two different videos and hearing that over and over for an hour each day.  Luckily, I was able to stay a few minutes after school and talk about the Romanovs with her because she was my homeroom teacher too, and I happened to be a teacher's pet...

Of course, you know you're really obsessed when you get mad at yourself for finding a new interest that is begining to overpower your concentration...

You know you're obsessed with the Romanovs when.....I experienced a new one...one of my sisters called up and said ," people  want to know  when this current Romanov bender will be over". I said,"like I know?" LOL! You never know when it will go dormant..( only to spring back to life again later.... and stronger!  ) AND I never had  a place like AP form during one of my Romanov walking dreamstates before...where I can converse with those just as crazed and better informed than myself! So my answer to my sister  was an unapologetic,  "I have no idea. " Luckily my husband sees the art I'm doing and says his  question is " What work  will the current  Romanov binge lead you too ? "  If someone else stays on board your good ship Romanov, it's helpful if it's spousal unit! lol!

Aww, I hate when teachers gloss over things like that. My teacher was talking about Louis XVI and how his execution was similar to the Romanovs', since they were both to eliminate any claimants to the thone...he talked about Anastasia and Anna Anderson (this guy in my class said, 'Hey, isn't that the Russian chick?' lol) and got everything accuratee xcept for saying that she was a little girl when she died. But he's interested in the Revolution and that era so I have a feeling that when we get to that unit, it'll be pretty interesting.

Also, my sister is taking the same class with a different teacher, who's concentrating more on Russian history, and I became insanely jealous and demanded full access to her notes.

I've been through this. Once, I walked into my European history class and saw "Bloody Sunday" written on the whiteboard. I grinned like a maniac. Also, my sister is taking the same class with a different teacher, who's concentrating more on Russian history, and I became insanely jealous and demanded full access to her notes.

Haha, I did the same thing with my friend! She's in AP European history so she has a lot of Romanov notes.
Whenever my teacher mentions something Romanov-related I immediately stop whatever I'm doing (drawing, sleeping, etc) and listen.
It would be so cool if there was an elective class just about Russian history!

That's funny..we had twins from Russia come to our school and their names were Anastasia and Tatiana.
My dad does that! If we're watching something about them like a documentaroy or something he might ask a silly question like, "Hey, what was Nicholas II's favorite color?"

Here's another one that I actually did just today!

--You go outside with your sister when it snows, just to do an experiment on exactly how much it hurts to be hit by a snowball with a rock inside.

It really does hurt! And she didn't even hit me in the head!

That is funny. I never thought of doing things like that before, but that would be interesting to try it. Any ideas of less painful ones?
In my stories about the Romanovs these are the colors they like:
Olga- blue
Tatiana- teal/turquoise
Marie- golden & pinks
Anastasia-red & pinks, violet
I think that Olga would like most cool shades of colors, cool meaning cold, like blues, purples and peacock green, and that Tatiana would like peackock green, sea green, teal and turquoise as well as some shades of purple. Marie and Anatsasia, i think would like warmer colors: pinks, reds, peach, golden, violet and maybe Anatsasia a sort of green like this.

Favorite color... actually, that's a pretty good question. Not that most of us (if any) would know, but as an author, those little details are fun to find out.
