btw. it's not that close from Auschwitz to Spala... it's really close to Auschwitz only if you're in Kraków or Katowice, or in south of Poland anyway.
not to mention there are also other Nazi Concentration Camps in Poland besides Auschwitz, in case you want to visit...

back from poland, it was amazing thanks! i've wanted to go forever so it was a bit of a dream come true! yeh we flew into katowice and spent quite a lot of time in krakow. went to auschwitz, wish i hadn't of now, it was unimaginable. i know obviously you expect it to be, but you can't imagine it until you go. but it was an experience. the guide was very very good, and lovely to listen to because of the wonderful accent that you could literally dissolve in, we also spent time around the zakopane area too. (is that how you spell it?) thought about naotmaa a lot when away. it was a mind blowing experience to finally go to poland after wanting to go forever though. now i can tick that off my list and denmark moves up to no. one place to go.

Yes I do know of Sobibor, Treblinka etc.   I did take an interest in the Holocaust and have visited the Sydney Jewish Museum.   

Tuna Ears glad you had a good time in Poland   I can only imagine how heart breaking and moving seeing Auschwitz in person would have been.   

YKYOWTR when you see girls dressed in Edwardian style on TV such as "Turn back the time" and the hemline is to the ankles and you think "No costume people you have got it wrong,  hemline is ment to be above the knees or below after a certain age.   When the girl becomes of age the hemline is down to ankles.  OTMA photos are a good example."
