Re  Reply #521,  Attention: "Sarushka"    Referencing the last photo (illustrated from a previous posting in your reply) and quoting,  "the young man in the left foreground wasn't visible in the version I had before...."   Absolutely TOTAL speculation on my part, but could he be Leonid Sednev (the "kitchen boy" in the kitchen garden)?  (Potentially "Kolia" Deverenko? But we HAVE known earlier photos of Kolia, who seemed to tend to be "stouter"). I had also entertained the potential of the young person in the FIRST photo behind the guard bearing the rear end of the carrying litter as a potential for the speculative "L. Sednev" in the last photo: same cap (cockade not visible in the LAST photo), jacket, hair color, top of jacket flap open, etc., but the pants of the figure in the first photo appear darker..   Of course we'll never know until a positive attribution can be given to an authentic photo of him.  Then, again, there could have been a number of "younger" temporary helpers or younger-appearing guards permitted within the confine.  Regards, AP

It seems like a possibility. All I know of Sednev's appearance is that he was quite tall for his age and had wide, thin lips.

I've never seen it before, but am no real judge of its rareness.

The real find is the inscription! Now we know the precise date of that formal session: "Remembrance of 7 October 1896."

I think is rare...As for screecaps and photogarphical close up of the faces, etc it could be a possibility to open a new thread about them. I think that in those screencaps and close ups, you may see more details than in general photo. I love Livadia's website , for there you may find a lot of close ups of NAOTMAA's faces, and I assure you that they seems to be very different pics from the ones they are taken off. When I click on them to see the whole pic, I always blinks, for most of the times, I can't guess wich photo I'll find...And it happens that  I've seen it hundred of times!

Oh I quite agree. Almost like a new picture!  I love big copies of the photos for this reason.
