One of the most beautiful bridges in Paris has the name of Alexander III, why??

I belive that Nicholas II opened it.

Yes, that bridge is the most beautiful in Paris. I was fascinated with it more than with the Eiffel  ;D.
Nicholas II did opened it.

Pont Alexandre III certainly is the most elegant and ornate bridge which I have ever seen.

It was Nikolai II, his son who laid the foundation stone in 1896, to consolidate the ratification of the Russo-French alliance.

The bridge was opened in 1900 for the World Exposition. I believe that Nikolai II was not present at it's official opening.

I expended almost a full roll of film on the Pont Alexandre III , ensuring I captured its features at street level and from the Seine river cruise.

It was just so magnificent ...  ;D

It is magnificent. If only I was older so I could go there and view it in all its splendour myself.

:o :o I was in Paris some years ago and saw the very bridge without even knowing the name! But now I do!

I was just in Paris. That bridge was absolutely beautiful. I took a picture but it didn't come out. :-(

When I visited Paris in June, I got a few pictures of the Pont Alexandre III during our boat tour on the River Seine, and one shot from the Eiffel Tower, but the boat was going quite fast and some of the shots came out blurry and others had other tourists heads in them, but the Eiffel Tower picture came out great and three of the bridge pictures were great too, including one of some crazy guy standing on the bridge posing for a picture and scaring everyone in the boat because we thought he was about to commit suicide!

A painting of the Pont Alexandre III (and the Tour Eiffel) in Paris.
It's a little poster that I bought some years ago, but my scanner as usual "works" always in an awful way! (but it's already a "miracle" that it decided to work a bit today)...sorry for the poor quality.  ::)

The Alexander III brige makes me remember reading something in a book called "the world's greatest buildings" about a bridge somewhere that Nicholas had laid the first stone of, but now I can't find it! Humph.
