Information about Ekaterina Ivanovna Ksenofontova and family
« on: December 31, 2009, 10:24:35 AM »
I would be most grateful if anybody may have any information regarding my family who resided at 5, Tolmachevskii, Staryi, Moscow.
My grand- mother was Iraida Sergeevna Ksenofontova who left Russia in 1929, and lived in Germany until until 1936, eventually living in England until her death in 1986.
In 1993 her son (my father) looked into the history of his mother. Sifting through her documents, many were found to be missing or destroyed through wear and age. All we have is a photograph of the house in Moscow, a house in the Crimea and farm in the Ukraine (no address/ area for these last two properties)
There are many documents written in Russian, of which I am unable to translate. I have one document which is translated of which the family name is cross referenced in a book called Societe Et Noblesse Russe written by Shakovskoi (a photocopy of the page) approx 1979.
She had a very difficult life here in England, as the marriage to her English husband (who she married in Russia) ended when she arrived in England (he had no family), she had two sons and two grand- children.
Other addresses and names of her family in Russia:
Evdokiia Grigor' evna Ksenofontova who lived at the above address
At number 26, Bakhmetevskaia, Moscow- Aleksandr Ivanovich Ksenofontov
Ivan Ivanovich Ksenofontova
Nikita Mikhailovich Ksenofontov who lived at 17, Shosse, Zvenigorodskoe
Anfinsa Fedorovna Ksenofontova

As you may have gathered, I am not a historian, and must admit, as a young boy, I was more interested in football than visiting a very strict but kind old lady who insisted on perfect manners, good exam results etc. etc.

Many thanks

Tasia
