I think people make up these stories cos they wish they were true. When I was younger I used to like to dream I was a lost prince from some great dynasty and so on and the like but now I realise it was just childish fantasies. I think i did it because I didn't like the situation i was in as a child so i dreamed of a different life faraway from my own family and I am not interested in celebrities for celebrity sake, i felt i wasnt valued as very important by my father so i found fantasising made me feel like i was yet to be discovered as someone really important and loved by mane people publicly (like a Grand Duke or something which is important and loved in a lot of peoples eyes rather than just a commoner)

I am interested in their values and stories, in their philosophies and how their humanity deals with the positions they found themselves born into. I explore my fantasies now in video games and in writing but I know that it's not true. Exploring your own family history can be interesting too! I guess one needs to learn to love the life God gave you

Pink ribbons were used for Olga and Tatiana´s 1913 kokoshniki, the ones for little OTMA in 1904 were most probably blue. I´ve never heard of what colour these 1911 were, but since the dresses were of silver brocade, I suppose they were white.

Yes, I'm quite certain that the ribbon was attached to the kokoshnik. I may be wrong, but wasn't the ribbon pink? Or maybe I'm just thinking of colored photos from forum users.

It's interesting the stories that people come up with for attention.

This is exactly what I was going to say.

The ribbon was attached to the kokoshnik and was a pinkish color like the kokoshnik itself.

If she's going to make up stupid stories she should at least get her facts right beforehand. It's kind of funny though.

Whether the story is true or not, its "nice" to hear this kind of stories than the ones of "lost kids", "hidden kids" "Illegitimate kids" and blah blah blah

I don't have time to search for it but I've read about them a few times in the past 8 years or so. Maybe by searching here you can find information on them.
The Grand Duchesses kokoshniki were made of very light pink silk grosgrain and pearls and the ribbons were pink satin.

Well, as I stated before - I know 1913 kokoshniki for OT were pink to match their court dresses. I don´t really see whywould 1911 kokoshniki would be pink too, when the dresses were not, but that´s jsut my impression. Could be. in 1904 the kokoshniki were blue....

Yes, OT's were pink velvet. And about the 1911 dresses were a golden pinkish color as you can see here in this close up of Anastasia's:

Is that the one on display in AP currently? If so, I've seen it up close and yes, it has pinkish detail. Thanks for posting that.

Thank you for the close-up, never seen it before. However to see the detail as close as that is a bit diappointing... the flitters (or whatever it is) look a bit cheap...

I think it's just the old age of the garment. Probably looked a lot better a hundred years ago ;)

They still look really pretty in full in my opinion:

(my photo, please ask if you want to use it somewhere, thanks)

I do however wonder who exactly wore which one...Anastasia's is obvious but the others? (Not to go completely off topic here)

Thanks to everyone who informed me of the pink kokoshnik ribbon...the ribbon in the video, at least, has been proven a fake!

I believe it's Olga to the left, Maria in back, Tatiana to the right.

I really think they're gorgeous. I was awed when I saw the close up. I can see how the sequins (that's what they look like anyway) could seem cheap but the work is very intricate.

I didn´t say it doesn´t look lovely :) Just after reading a chapter on court dresses from The Court of the last Tsar and seeing closeups of various robes, which were emboridered for months, I was a bit taken aback. But then again theses were not "adult" court dresses and would be worn only several times, so it is understandable thye were not as difficult and expensive as the adult court dresses would be.

A ribbon that is nearly 100 years old would not be bright white- it would have faded/yellowed with age, no matter how well preserved it was.  Regardless of what colour ribbons the GDss were wearing in the photos, that particular ribbon is probably not genuine.

Wow!! I'm quite surprised at reading all those stories!  :o

I think that the ribbon was one piece with the kokoshnik, I found a modern kokoshnik of a similar style and it can be easily noticeable.

I second this! Only see the dresses, the damage of the time is noticeable on them! The famous ribbon is of a similar time than the dresses and seems not having neither the half of the time that this people say. It's new! The ones who made this video didn't take real care at making their story  :-\
