Question about the 1997 movie Anastasia!

Hey there! I'm super curious, during the scene of Once Upon a December we see Olga, Tatiana and Maria come to Anastasia. Does anyone know which Grand Duchess is who?

I've wondered that myself. I think one of the GDs has her hair down so that's probably Maria.

I remember one with short hair as well, which is probably Tatiana. So, hair up = Olga, Short hair = Tatiana, Hair down = Maria. Though I haven't seen it in a while so I could be wrong.

There was a discussion about this in movie section, but in the end we figured out that most probebly the girl in pink is Olga, girl with rshort hair is Tatiana (taken from 1914 formals) and the girl in purple Maria (also the similar hairdo as in 1914).

Oh! Yeah, I haven't read this thread but I've figured out that the girl with a tiara in the head and with ponytails is Olga because she *have* wore a tiara in the head at the 1914 formals photo sessions! And the other with just ponytails is Maria. Anastasia is the one with the yellow dress and Tatiana is the girl with the tiara & that hairdo !

Oh yes, I know that! But I don't know how to say the thing that they wore in English (the thing in the head, like a >headband<!), so I put tiara (but tiara is crown too...) LOL. So it's a ribbon! But I'll say headband! hehe!

Well, in the movie there is Tatiana with her hair up like it is in photos. Olga's hair is in a ponytail with a ribbon on it. And the one with her hair down is Maria. At least, that is what I've always thought.

The animators seemed to put some effort into Tatiana and Maria, as far as hairstyles go. Too bad they didn't do the same for Olga.

Amazing that they ever made this movie.  By then the remains of three of the sisters had been found.

Although another decade would pass before the fourth was found, you kind of knew that Anastasia wasn't going to get the happy ending this movie said she had.

It's a workable formula, and this film was a modest hit. If we know one thing about animated movies it's that young girls love princesses. This was "Frozen" for the 90s, albeit not nearly as successful.

If you want historical accuracy, you'll have to look elsewhere.

OTM are kind of based on their formal 1913 photographs. Olga has the ribbon in her hair, Tatiana's hair is up and Maria's is down. When they appear next, in the nightmare, they all look generally the same but Maria wears a green bathing suite rather then purple. They made sure to make Tatiana the tallest, so you should give them that at least.
