Yes, 'cut' sounds as though one of her fingers had gone septic and needed to be cut open for the rubbish to drain out.

For what it's worth, this sounds like a separate incident from catching her hand in a train door.

Hey ya'll I've only read that Anastasia's finger was slammed in a carriage door. Hmmm. Will check my sources again. An old out of print book--sorry can't think of it now.

Probably a book on Anna Anderson. Either the one by James Blair Lovell or Peter Kurth. Those are the only two I've ever read it in.

Anna Anderson claimed that the scar in her finger was caused because of that accident. But it was actually Maria who suffered it.

I read of Maria's damaged hand-something to do with and occurance on the Royal train?-in a book entitled "Blood Relative" by Nicholas Gray. Sadly, time has proved that there was no truth in the book itself, although certain facts in it were true.
