Who did Maria resemble?

Hallo Guys ^^

I"m new here, but anon opened a new topic (this is the cause why i registrated), because I didnt find the answer to my quiestion ^^

When Im watching the pictures, I always amused, because Maria was the only one, who looked different from her sisters and her brother. She didnt favour to her siblings, then who?

Never found the answer...maybe a bit to her father, but just her eyes...but all of her siblings were similar to each other, why not Maria too? Was she really an angel? ^^

Yes, those are Maria´s paternal grnadparents Alexander III. and Maria Fyodorovna when they were young.

I've noticed that Maria didn't really resemble her siblings or her parents, but I had never thought of Maria Feodorovna. She really does resemble her,and maybe a tiny bit of Alexander III or Nicholas.Thanks for posting this or I would never have thought about it

I thought Maria looked like Maria Fedorovna when Maria F was younger and it was said by many that knew Alexander III that Maria was built like him, not to thin but sturdy and strong.

I think that Tatiana looked more like MF than Maria did. For example, in GD Ally's avatar of MF, I see a lot of Tatiana! I thought Maria most resembled Nicky.

In comparison, going by pictures Anastasia and Alexei resembled Alix the most, and Olga a cross of Nicky and Alix. Maria, most definitely resembled her paternal side. I think she had her grandfather's cleft chin, too (my but he was handsome!)

IMO Tatiana never resembled Marie Fyodorovna in the smallest. She tookafter her maternal side. In fact searching for her looks I came to believe she resembled her autn Ella and her great-grandmother Maria Alexandrovna, who was also a Princess of hesse.

I always thought that as Maria got older that she started resemble Olga somewhat.

Grand Duchess Ally, I had never noticed before the striking similarity between the Dowager Empress and Maria. Looking at the photos you've used for comparison, I can't believe that it had escaped me! Also (a little off topic) but I had to mention that I was so curious about the Sir Nicholas Winton referred to on your signature, as I had never heard of him, that I looked him up on Wikipedia. It is such an extraordinary story! I'm in tears!! The tribute on your signature to this amazing man is so lovely.

I kept reading Maria resembled her grandfather, but when I looked at young Maria Fyodorovna, I could see the great similarity at once. Minnie was darker in her colouring, much more fragile looking and tiny, but the facial features are there....

I´mglad another person got to know the story of Sir Nicholas Winton. Not many know it, and I´m trying to change it. He is somebody all politicians and all people should learn from. World would be so much a better place.

I think Marie resembles her aunt Irene a bit.

I don´t thin you´re crazy, but I can´t see any significant resemblance Anastasia was a great reflection of Irene and her mother though.
