http://www.royal-magazin.de/german/hannover/hannover-blueten-diadem.htm

There  it says that probably was brought by Viktoria Luise as a wedding present to her.

Perhaps someone more fluent in German than I can translate the whole thing but doesn't it also speculate it could have been a gift from Thyra or even another relative? It seems the origins are a bit cloudy. Also something about a great-grandmother?

Don't think it came from Thyra's collection. Didn't see her wore it anytime in any photos. She might have bought it for her. But I think it is more likely that it came from Viktoria Luise, since she was much richer in jewels.

Did you read the article that CH linked to? It seemed to say it could have been a GIFT from Thyra not from Thyra's collection. As I said, perhaps someone who is more fluent in German could take a look at it.

The description says that it is possible that this jewelry was brought in the Hannoverian family bij Viktoria Luise at the event of her marriage but it could also be a gift to Thyra from her relatives (especially her mother was named) at the wedding of Thyra. So it does not give a definite answer to this issue. Sorry.

Translation by google chrome

"Topaz or topaz gemstones are intended to form the foundations of the twelve gates to the Holy City of the New Jerusalem. These so-called apocalyptic stones are intended to serve in protection against enemies and as a symbol of beauty and splendor.
In the Empire, the topaz was still widespread, so there is an exquisite set of Swedish Könisgshauses, which is equal to the quality of these jewels, glorious pink topaz with diamonds in silver and gold. It is also called precious topaz from cheaper for him "quartz topaz" to distinguish. It is possible that brought Victoria Luise Princess of Prussia on the occasion of the wedding these gems in the marriage.

It is also possible that Tyra Princess of Denmark, (Princess Thyra of Denmark, later consort of Ernst August of Hanover, 3rd Duke of Cumberland September . 29, 1853 - February 26, 1933), daughter of Danish King Christian IX, and sister:
Alexandra (1844-1925) - Queen of England,
William (1845-1913) - King George I of Greece
Dagmar (1847-1928) - Empress of Russia,
Frederick (1843-1912) - King Frederik VIII of Denmark
Valdemar (1858-1939) married. with Marie of Orleans († 1909), the parure as a wedding gift from one of your relatives or high profile of her jewelry-loving mother in Hanover brought.

Above is Princess Ortrud at the baptism of her son, Ernst August (the current House chief of Guelph) with the set, consisting of magnificent large drops framed with diamonds and a necklace made of different very large square topaz with diamond setting and a brooch
, the same set carries on The two photos Ernst-August `s first wife, Chantal of Hanover

For this purpose it combines a naturalistic tiara in the form of honeysuckle blossoms, buds and leaves of diamond and diamond silver with gold from the 19th Century.

Also this tiara can be brought about by the great-grandmother in the family."

The article says that it could be possible by either Viktoria Luise or Thyra. As I said before Thyra was not rich in jewels, so Viktoria Luise, who received lots of jewelry during her wedding (including Tsar Nicholas II)  would seem the better candidate.

According to published wedding gift lists, Thyra actually received a considerable amount.

I have heard that before....as she was not mistress of a court her gems were much less seen or commented on than those of both her sisters

I imagine she got to show them off somewhat in Austria as the Cumberlands were supposedly very popular at the court of Franz Josef. Wish there were more pictures though.  Here are some of wedding gifts (jewels only):

Christian IX and Queen Louise -- "splendid necklace with a cross attached."   (perhaps a Dagmar cross like her sisters or the large diamond cross she is seen wearing in her 25th anniversary photos)
The Emperor and Empress of Russia -a "splendid bracelet with pearls, rubies and diamonds."
The Duke of Cumberland  - a complete set of jewels in diamonds and sapphires.
The Prince of Wales - "a magnificent Indian necklace of large pearls, raw diamonds and emeralds."
The children of the Prince and Princess of Wales - each gave a "bracelet set in brilliants."
Princess Beatrice "a bracelet in chiseled gold and studded with brilliants"
Tsarevich and Tsarevna of Russia - a large locket "most richly let with matchless sapphires and brilliants.
Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark - "a most magnificent bracelet containing seven very large brilliants."

Thanks for the list of jewels Thyra received. Has that been published in a book (just want to see where the info came from). However I did not see any mention of pink topaz here and indeed, compared to the dazzling diadems (or tiaras) of Alexandra & Dagmar (her elder sisters) & those of her sister-in-law Lovisa of Sweden, her jewelry was small fry indeed. I suppose she also gave some of her jewelry to her three daughters, as in her later years, she hardly wore much herself.

The list of wedding presents does not mean that was all the jewelry at Thyra's disposal .The Hanover heirlooms (including magnificent diamonds grudglingly relinquished by Queen Victoria) and smuggled out of that country in 1866 after  the Prussian take over was certainly amongst gems which Thyra would be able to wear.

Indeed. I never saw Thyra wearing a tiara in fact.

It was from the New York Times. I never claimed that the pink topazes were a WEDDING gift to Thyra--just that she didn't have a paucity of jewels. Obviously, as ashdean pointed out, not being the consort of a reigning sovereign, she didn't have as many occasions to either own or possess a jewelry case equivalent to the future Queen of England and Empress of Russia.

It was also reported in the press, along the lines of what ashdean said, that amongst Ernst August's wedding gifts to Thyra were the magnificent pearls which had belonged to Queen Charlotte of Great Britain and which, according to the newspaper article, Thyra then gifted to Victoria Louise.

A reporter who viewed some of the wedding gifts reported that additional parures were purchased by both the Prince of Wales and the Tsarevich of Russia from the sale of Queen Isabella's jewels. One of them was a huge coral parure with 'three rows of balls and a row of deep pendants pointed at the lower end and round and thick at top. The balls...are as large as marbles." The one the Prince of Wales purchased was a 'wreath of rose leaves enameled on gold in natural tints' with the roses 'formed of brilliants and large diamonds' with a brooch, bracelet and earrings to match.
