Question about/help with photos of Anastasia

What is Anastasia doing in this picture? It is very puzzling, maybe she's performing some bizarre ritual?

I always wondered the same thing about this picture.
Although i doubt its some ritual...Anastasia was known for taking goofy pictures...this is probably another one of those

I think the strangest one i seen was that one where shes slumped on a couch and theres this ghostly being standing over her...obviously it was a photographic trick...but it looked strange non the less

Yes, she was just playing. I don't know the story behind why that circle was there in the first place, however. We've discussed this photo before, but unfortunately I can't find it in any of the threads when I use the search function.

I always imagined she was acting out something from A Little Princess. Remember the part where Sara draws a circle around herself for protection and then sits in it?
Although that's just my theory, I have no idea if the IF ever read A Little Princess. :]

Althought A Little Princess was published at the time, I have no idea if it was available in a Russian translation.  Even so, Anastasia wouldn't be acting it out, as the thing about the magic circle is only in the 1995 movie version, and not in the book.

First would likely be 1915/16.   The imperial family travelled around alot and would sometimes have breaks.  There is other  photos with Olga and Tatiana holding local children.

Second there was no image

Third I am assuming 1909/1910.

I would say 1914, because it was taken aboard a yacht. To my knowledge the last sailing of the Imperial family was right before the Great war.
