Newbie Lament
APTM for many years has been
My favourite site on the net.
Full of history and pictures and facts.
As close to royalty as I’ll ever get.
Romanovs, Romanovs all in their glory
Their palaces, pictures and clothes.
I want to learn more and so I join
The forum to see how it goes.
Discussions aplenty on people and places
Some I’ve never heard of before
Wonderful posters, all-knowing admin,
Threads and threads galore.
I’ll look for pictures of palace interiors!
Search for pictures of royalty rare!
I’ll see what Worth designed for the Empress
And the tiaras adorning her hair!
But before my glazed eyes soon appears
On many such threads repeated
Empty white boxes containing the words:
“This image has been moved or deleted”.
The members reply “Wow these are fantastic”
And “thank you for posting your pics!”
But I have no reason for giving thanks,
Out of 20 I saw only 6!
Oh why didn’t I join earlier?
What was I waiting for?
Saw the pics on the main page hundreds of times
Not knowing the Forum had more!
Still I treasure those photos that still can be seen
And as well there’s so much yet to learn.
I’d best stop complaining and get to the task.
But for those missing pics I will always yearn!
